I have recycle program still, it does not list mpc2000xl in the pref. Is there a way around this. Or do I need a next program.

thanks in advance

No way around it.

Recycle is and editing program that has nothing to do with MPC features.

The MPC is a drum Machine with its own sequencer. You must get another program (Cubase, Digital performer or Logic), a midi interface (Motu) as well as a mixing board with at least 16 channels in order for you to use it with your MAC/PC.

Sorry yo, but it just doesn't work that easily.

yup you can use your mpc with recycle. After dicing the samples what you'll have to do is an sms or smds(midi sample dump) dump to it. I've done it countless times. Just make sure you have an available midi port out of your mac's midi interface to do it. Look it up in the manual. It's definitely not as fast as scsi though. But If i recall correctly I also did it with scsi.

dee Hey Dee.
Can he make a entire track by using it this way. I know the MPC has its own sequencing but what kind of limits will he experience once he gets the hang of using the MPC in this fashion?

Nope smds is not for sequencing at all only for transferring of samples to and from midi devices or computers ...he only asked the question whether he could use his mpc with a mac. So since he mentioned he had recycle well I assumed that he just wanted to be able to use it in this fashion. He'd definitely need a sequencing program and a midi interface to do anytype of serious audio recording. Though I've heard people make incredible records with an alesis mmt-8 and an old ass akai s950.

Couldn't agree more...I been using scsi handshakes for years now...but I don't think he has much of a choice.

peace Yeah Dee.
I am feeling the Alesis mmt-8 I was going to buy that before but I spiped over it one I started dealing with programs that allowed me to have more that 8 audio.

That Akai s950 is a hot piece. Old but still hot. That’s the first studio sampler I learned from. I would snatch up a used one if I saw it but they have so many other good samplers out there theses days.

Yeah I know you answered the question in general but I'm sure Kayo is looking to make some beats with that MPC so, that’s why I expressed the minimum pieces he would need to get something started.

I guess he got his question answered and a nice piece of advice!

thanks fellas. I pretty much thought that was the way it had to go down. Still, I was trying to make kits in and then dump them into the MP.

ie: I have elab sounds that are wave files and I know that I could just sample them into the mp right off of the cd still, it seems there is a better/faster way to do as such.

kayo!
