"I heard the Hacienda was quite good , they seem to be quite enjoying house there while the Watson brothers were getting beer bottles thrown at them in the Big Smoke for playing the same

Joking aside can anyone really confirm what the reaction was when Noel Watson dropped some house at what i believe was a major rare groove and funk club, the name of the club escapes me".

Martin, from your posts i'm assuming you are old enough to remember something about this :D

Rob - you know how to make a happy man feel very old :D

I can't help you on this one I'm afraid. I remember hearing Noel Watson play in the late eighties and he was very good and by that time very much appreciated. Do you know what club it was? I've heard similiar stories about people's reaction to House when it was first played at Southport (not bottles being thrown tho') - is this true?

Pacha tried to get this venue (great space) but Westminster Council were typically difficult and denied the licence. On the subject of licensing, and going off at a tangent that couldn't be more British; the Licensing Bill should receive Royal ascent in the next week or so - venues with a capacity of less than 200 will not have to declare music events on their licence - AND you'll be glad to know Morris dancing is also exempt! :D

The new Pacha is the old SW1.

The Raw Club was below the YMCA, Bedford Ave off Totenham Crt Rd, the residents when I used to go were Dave Dorrell & CJ Macintosh (before they had a hit as MARRS). It used to clash with Mud Clud at Busby's down the road. Half my mates would go to Busby's while the rest of us were Raw Club regulars. The music at the RAW back then was mainly 70ts funk with a bit of hip-hop & go go, the club was well decorated & they used to sell Sapporo behind the bar (the first time I had seen a can like that).

Noel used to play at Delirium at Heaven, I think he used to do it with his brother Maurice.

If this thread is just going to be an odd, strictly British affair, can someone please tell me what's going on with 192? There's 118 118 and 11 88 88 is there any others? Are these two the same company? I'm lost.
