All good times, kind of. Warehouse parties in East London certainly made you grow up a lot quicker than staying in and watching Blind Date. </font>
hahahahahahaahah

There may of been other clubs in other parts of the country playing the tracks back then, but the truth is that the artists & the distributers would bring their tracks to SPEED for Bukem & Fabio to break for the first time.
Also, I'm working class & proud of it, there were a few wealthy kids in there from St Albans/Hertfordshire area but they were also making good records, they could afford the EMU samplers !! But there were also kids off some of the estates in Islington making great music & no doubt other parts of the country. On the whole you're correct that music did'nt have a rough element attached to it (or MC's I'm pleased to say, they may generate an atmosphere for some, but I can't stand them), but that's no bad thing !
The Marquess Estate? That place is being knocked down as we speak. One nearby resident was heard to say 'Those women, the ones on the Marquess, when they get pregnant, you know what, put them in jail, you know why, their kids are gonna end up their anyway, might as well give birth to them there and save the state some money'

That place is a joke, £1.5M Canonbury houses back on to that Estate.

hmmm, I got to disagee with some of things you've said here.

jungle = ragga music for drug heads.

C'mon this was our punk rock. Music that was fresh & rebellious. To call it "ragga music for drug heads." is ignorant.

"Oh my god they are talking about UK Garage and Moschino shirts and leaving the tag on clothes so people know the make, ****ING TWATS ! cheesey rubbish nonsense that is for Trevor Nelson sellout ass !"

This was at Twice as Nice, which originally started as a house night. I know it looks as corny as hell but I actually used to do the same thing. It was about being a broke youth wanting to look like I was making money. I'm sure you must have had a "fashion" when you were young.

"UK - UK - UK - our own sound - **** off Trevor UK up your ass."

Not sure what this is directed at but the uk does have it's own sound, which was born from jungle. It went on to produce uk garage and is now very much evident in broken beat. I don't think that's anything to be ashamed of. Do you?

I personally enjoyed the programme for what it was. People who were pasionate about music, that touched THEIR soul.

Oh and this is my first post. Hi.
    sup bro!

I totally agree on the jungle thing, that was the first music that felt like ours. That was such an exciting time. And the shitty 2-step did come out of speed garage. I remember when Twice as Nice started, it was one hell of a Sunday night party.

Growing up with Soul II Soul, then OMar & young disciples, into jungle and drum and bass... These all made me so proud and excited to be from London. Nothing else sounded like that.

So one road was travelled into popular mainstream culture and that was with 2-step and that all happened as I was leaving the Uk (not the main reason I left), so I am not so bitter.

But on the other side, you got the progession into the West London sound, your Phil Ashers of the world, the explosion in popularity of Gilles Peterson's scene, consistently good and adventurous house music from england, the evolution of Drum and Bass....

I havent seen the program and of course it would get me very riled up from what Martin said but screw them if they look at one side of the coin, I know how it really went down.

What we are mostly wondering is why you are so biter about some things.
would that be pillow biter? </font>
Have you been banned yet ? </font>
Why should I be banned? Are you an authority on this board or something? Why should you get upset at someone criticizing one of your rants and making both valid and constructive comments? Are you actually refering to me?

I don't agree with people simply to keep the peace. I read a lot of posts on this board and have been around some time, there is much knowledge on some topics here. I'm not looking for any love or to be taken in by you or any of the DHP but as a public message board people are entitled to free speech. Surely Gman can make up his mind as to if I should be banned, its his board and face it Martin, you got iced right here.
    </font>
Whatever !

I was talking to Martin S, no name calling or other personal attacks.

"PILLOW BITER" was aimed at me.

And you wonder why think LONDON HAS IT'S FAIR SHARE of UP THEIR OWN ARSE PEOPLE, YEAH and LONDONERS ARE the most popular people abroad, Northeeners love your loud wit.
    </font>
No Martin, it was aimed at Bran for the typo he made - biter when it should have been bitter,

You really do seem like you've got a chip on your shoulder. Don't get so defensive.

    Yes, it's mostly filled with _ _ _ _ _ _ _ from the home counties.

and most of the clubs are full are tourists with lil back packs.

I dont dislike London, looking from the outside it's OK, but people act like it's a heaven, Buckingham Palace looks good, I like pissing against it when I visit.

don't let it bother you man - capital cities all over the world have certain common denominators. Advice - avoid the West End if you want to go to a club - go east, but not quite as far Essex :D

Let's face it though, people who live in London rule and are miles more handsome intelligent and altogether better in every way than the hoi polloi unfortunate enough to inhabit more inferior cities in the UK.

how prententious ! I hope your joking.

    on a side note,
dna tests can find that real parents are probably good lookers in a lot of cases.

Back to the subject at hand and you and London (i take it you moved their as you said "live in london" rather than born and bred their.

    london

some nice sites, they even have a fair ground wheel and a big tent, nice.

Miles more dirty, they have black snot from breathing in some nasty air; your water turns black when you shower at night

    Traffic congested like their lungs.

Handsome , did you post your picture on the picture thread, if you love somebody it might as well be yourself hey.

Over inflated house prices due to all the daddies’ money people from the Home Counties and their gentrification of London, causing the true Londoners to move to Essex
    I know there's Starbucks everywhere. :rofl :

If you want to get into the green and pleasant countryside quickly you have to get on plane.

Self-inflated egos are ten a penny.
