Going by your logic anyone who likes to dance and have a good time is a hooligan, am I understanding you correctly? Maybe your concept of hooligans and mine differ. I don't remember seeing hooligans in Shoom, do you? </font>
No what i am saying is that just because a football casual does his thing on a saturday afternoon does not mean he or she does not like to party or listen to house music on a saturday night!!While we are on this subject im sure that Terry farley and Pete heller were football casuals!!i may be wrong on this one but im almost positive. And on the Shoom subject.I read a book a while back which used Danny Rampling and his wife for some of the main research and it was stated that there was a large hooligan element in Shoom on some occasions.if you want to find out more about this i can dig the book out from the loft!

You may be unsure, I know I am not middle class and I know I am not upper class

As for an exact definition, wooh, sorry I was mostly breakdancing whilst the english teachers joined the many strikes under Margaret Thatchers terror, ask a jounalist perhaps, they tend to be great with the english language. ;)

The only way to do it would be to describe the definate blocks of our culture, that wouldn't leave much grey area and people can fall into a grey area with no definition, i have a friend who dad is a millionaire many times, he doesn't see any money and lives like the rest of us for the time being for instance, therfore I don't judge him, you can't choose you parents and I am not hating on people just because of there class, I don't tend to worry about it too much until it is made apparent to me through some form of snobbery.

I have a lot of friends who fall nowhere on the class ladder. I will try but I am trying to sort out a club night at present, cop out for the moment at least.

This is my point. It's not relevant today. As I have said repeatedly, I don't know what class I am.

In my case some people tend to know what class I am if not at first they do in the end because it matters to them more than me.

I haven't read all of this thread and I'm just jumping on the tail end. But why do you care so much if somebody shows their "snobbery"?

Don't you show snobbery by dissing UKG & Jungle?

My point was that there wasn't a noticeable hooligan element. There may have been the odd one in there but I never saw it. The vibe was very different at Shoom.

The thing about class in Britain is that everyone says

"Oh I'm working class and proud of it"

Really? I don't know about anyone else but I'd love to be upper class. Live in a big house, have loads of money. Get to stay on a yacht during the Monaco Grand Prix. What's not to like about that kind of lifestyle? Sounds nice to me. Beats working everyday and watching Coronation Street.

on a side note and into a connection with both music clubs and class.

In the second city the nights/clubs that get licensed for all-nighters etc - for instance. , if your an organiser of a big event, well, class matters, as having a papa that can pull some strings helps these days

The American Dream without the work ethic, is what your talking about.

Coronation Street isn't really an upper class thing, for every £ mil you have , there are a thousand homeless, nice thought hey.

**** it why don't you just go up to the next stage and say I would like to own a foreign country with my own slaves.

Fact is your not so ..........

Shoom was everything it was cracked up to be - and some! But, the club that always gets over looked was Norman Jay's High On hope - this was something else - this was how it should be.

I don't recall wishing for that outcome Martin. That's a bit unfair if I do say so myself.

Now someone's talking sense. My grandparents were of this "Oh I'm working class and proud of it" metality - but I was brought up under the ethos that there's nothing to be proud of, and that if you'd had nothing you would know that and should recognise it. I've never seen the romanticism connected with being poor myself. Go to India and try telling it to the tens of thousands of homeless you see bedding down on the streets of the cities every night.

Still living on the gold stolen from Africa's mines, are you sure you still want to be part of that.

Also be be part of this crew you will need a blood line.

Would you be happy going to a school where you are made to eat a biscuit with your classmates semen on it. Or would you be happy getting your dogs to kill a fox and then have the bloody tail rubbed all over your face, if your happy with this you can get your above wish
