ramer,

you've asked for it, so here it is!

let's see what i can think of that i've heard/bought over the past couple of weeks:

aroy dee 'kiss/the planets' [nwaq] aroy dee is part of m>o>s, one of my favorite artists. all they've/he's released the past 2 years is ace!

shawn rudiman on technoir, there's one really nice track on there.

luciano, from geneva also mentioned in the derrick may interview. the perlon release of a couple of weeks ago wasn't quite my cup of tea, but i heard another release past week that was rather nice.
[sorry i'm terrible on titles, so all i'm typing here isn't of much help]

dynarec 'r cam' [delsin] sounds like some early drexcyia, not too pollished, but soo good!

that's it for now, but there must be more.[new mills/robert hood anyone?]

TECHNOIRAUDIO!!! That's my crew here in PGH!!!
We'll be hitting the DEMF in full force this year as well!!!

Check out www.technoiraudio.com I'm on the website, but I won't say who I am...yet.

However, I wear glasses, I DON'T have dreads and I make a lot of p-funk references. ;)

Arnie, great Aqua Boogie out-take...

I picked up Franz Fanon's book from a thrift shop... the yellow/black cover made me take it off the shelf (ima designer - its a typography thing...). I didn't know about its context or importance as a philosophical volume - until I began to see Fanon's name mentioned here and there. the preface by Jean Paul Satre holds up well to the work itself.

btw have you read Detroit: I Do Mind Dying ?

Bingo! ;) That picture was taken after a mean cook-out at a buddy's place. At that point my name should have been toomuchbarbequedchickenhamburgersandmacaroni'nchee se! :D

Pleesedtameetcha!

I got my copy of Fanon doing the thrift store thing myself. I'm still working my way through "Black skin, white masks."

I bought a techno record the other day: "Silence in the Secret Garden" by Moodyman on Peacefrog.

Yo Jurren, I just realized that this is a track I've been playing for the past week. Mine has no writing on the label just some artwork. but all the info you mentioned is cut into the deadwax. Is this how your's is too??
What are other Aroy Dee/ M>o>s records to get? I've got "Utilities #2" on Rush Hour and I really like it alot. There is one track on it that sounds just like a real deep Larry Heard production..

also feeling:
Creme Eclipse 01: The Omni Incentive

klas,

i'd say start with [RH 003] M>O>S feat. Aroy Dee - Utitlities
there's one track on there [think it's called ooxxo] that's raw as hell! you could compare it to that 1987 ep on sound signature, just a bit deeper.
also check their website they've got streaming mp3's available of old and new work.

they've done a limited one sided sampler for rushhour aswell, and a 12" for delsin, and a label on their own comming up in the not too distant future.
check forcefield website there's a mix featuring a couple of yet unreleased m>o>s tracks.

I don't keep up with techno anyway near as much as I used to. Recently I've bought the Mills "Every Dog 4" and "Medium", I reckon the latter's more essential. Yet to check that Aroy Dee but I've picked up all the other M>O>S 12s - also need to check the new Drexciya related stuff on Clone and Kombination Research, that Dynarec thing, and the Polarius 12s on Creme and Downlow. Beyond that most techno is either banging, noodly or nostalgic, and none of that appeals to me.

Arnie, Shawn was over in the UK last year and dropped in on a party I was playing at - he was jumping around like a loon to Sheila E. You guys are tight with Anthony Shakir, too - yep? I met him recently at a gig in Liverpool and he was full of praise for Shawn and his legendary live set.
