I haven't really been trying to pay attention to this ongoing battle with internet radio for the past 7 or 8 years cause it's really a money issue of between paying advertisers & copywrite agencies for artists.

But I have been reading up on starting & setting up your own pirate radio though.

it's also a concern for those who use internet radio to promote their work, of opening up and maintaining outlets for independent labels/artists when we know the mainstream shuts them out, no?

I'd say your equation might be a bit of an oversimplification...
