Read the Deal Book Section of the NYTimes.com - get an understanding of what is going on and where you might want to consider investing your money. Same thing with CNBC.com, in fact the money and finance sections of any website such as CNN, Yahoo, Google, Washington Post, etc...learn alot reading some of those articles that might not seem to "matter".

I would suggest you read www.marketwatch.com & www.bloomberg.com

There's no need for magazines in my opinion, these days most general stuff can be found for free.

You need to take an interest in finance capitalism ie. Stock Market, Commodity Market for example. You need to eliminate your debt first.
