DayRa, Mamby Host Two-Day, Outdoor Music Showcase at
Do-Division Street Festival
National, local DJs take center stage in Moonshine Chicago's parking lot
CHICAGO-Two of Chicago's most notable, underground dance events are partnering to bring audiences one of the biggest music showcases of the year.
Join Moonshine Chicago(1824 W. Division St.) Music 101 and reload as they host the first Mamby/DayRa Outdoor Music Fest during the Do-Division Street Fest and Renegade Craft Fair on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16. Absolut Vodka and Goose Island lend their support to this two-day outdoor music fest set to sizzle the Moonshine parking lot from 12 to 11 p.m. on each day.
As Chicago's longest-running, daytime dance event, Music 101's DayRa party series heats up audiences with its roster of top tier local DJ music talent. Just Joey, Brian Gardner, Diz and Andre Harris are only a few house-centric artists ready to send off the summer season with a bang. Listen for other DayRa artists, including Mindbender, Enots and Tommy Ruffingers, to work techno, dub and downtempo into the afternoon repertoire.
On the flip side, Relode promotion's Mamby event has been a weekly, Wednesday night fixture at Moonshine for the past three summers. Featuring diverse DJ talent including Danny the Wild Child, Justin Long, Mazi and Marco Morales, Mamby has become one of the most revered underground electronic events in Chicago for three years running.
The first Mamby/DayRa outdoor music event also welcomes several new faces to the talent pool, including Greg Corner of Kill Hannah performing a special DJ set and the feel-good party rock of Madrid and Zebo. Local ladies Tracey Tobey (of Gramaphone fame), Brenda D and Eyrka of Office lend their skills to this 24-hour music event.
Highlighting the Sept. 15 bill are the Chicago-based Greenskeepers, a live band that pairs irreverent pop with intelligent electronica. As artists on San Francisco's esteemed OM Records, the band's 2006 debut album, Polo Club, turned the underground dance scene on its ear, thanks to its David Byrne-blend of monotone vocals and slick sarcasm. Listen for Greenskeepers to perform its live, headlining shtick at ---(4:30pm) on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Mamby/DayRa will be held in conjunction with the Do-Division Street Fest and Renegade Craft Fair, which takes place from 1959 to 1635 W. Division St. This first, annual fest caters to artists and shoppers interested in unique arts and do-it-yourself crafts. Local restaurants will open their doors while live music lights up the night.
The Mamby/DayRa Outdoor Fest is set to go off, rain or shine. Admission is free, while partygoers indulge in $5 Absolut Vodka cocktails all day and night. Moonshine brings home its flavorful brand of American cooking, with its signature burgers, wings and pizzas available throughout the party.
Additionally, Moonshine will have its outdoor grills fired up with burgers, hot dogs and sausage for the all-day event.
The Silver Room (1442 N. Milwaukee Ave.) will also be on hand, selling its custom jewelry within the Moonshine BBQ grounds.
