The party was on!!!I had a ball.Came in the door dancing.Julius set up Joe nice.Joe gets on playing this moody ass tune, then just starts take off. That damn Instant House-Awade was torn to shreds by Joe.

Joe was working that shit.No bleeding fingers last nite, but he was tweaking that shit hard and from a distance,it looked like he was getting some action under the booth.

My only complaint....that shit got really loud at times.I am soooo glad I had some earplugs given to me by Whyteout.Best b-day gift. The tissue only stopped so much.

The main reason it got really noisy,Joe was using a pioneer mixer.Wrong board to use on a big system, especially when you are pushing it.

I heard that damn organ track. It's dope.It just was not played long enough to me.Joe played a nice selection of some tunes I can not even rememeber, due to the drinking I was doing.

Dhp was out deep.It was a damn good way to celebrate my b-day.Next to Timmy Regisford,Joe has been the best jock from NYC to come and bang it consistantly.I heard him before and he rocked it,last nite,he just went the fuck off.

Joe is a f*&king mad man! True to his billing: he played VERY LOUD and lots of "bongo" tracks. Great energy in his set. I really enjoyed listening to him get down.

i've never heard zentra's sound pushed so hard before. can only imagine what kind of hearing damage could be done in at places where the system can handle joe. at times i had to seek out spots away from the speakers.

but tinnitis aside, joe sent me into a trance. i haven't danced so hard in a long long time. a couple of times i looked into the booth and jhoe just had this look that he knew exactly how he was tweakin you with the eq.

i feel jamie on joe's set being one of the best ny jocks to come out this year, but i would go a bit further and say he was better. that vibe at zentra was definitely better than harry's.

Joe killed it last night! He didn't overdo it on the crossover. Did enough to accent the music he was playing. Every damn cut he played was pure quality. Ended the night with USG's "N Came U".

He told me that "Obatala" is slated to come out in Febuary.

It was a pleasure to finally meet alot of the DHPers face to face. Jamie 3:26, Trindee, Faire One, Alan King (I know I'm missing some names).

Happy Birthday again, Jamie.

To all Ney York Djs:
Thats how you beat that shit when you come to Chicago. Joe Clausell snapped from beginning to end. The perfect mix of records i know and cuts i never heard. Both times i have heard him(yesterday and a couple of years ago at Buddah)he put his foot in it from the first cut. He only gave us one old Chicago track(thank god). Julius also did his thang. I showed up too late at the Why not last week to hear him, but i heard he tore it up there too. Between Joe and Julius last night and Anthony Nicholson at Sonotheque the Sat. after Thanksgiving, I've heard three sets of music in two weeks that sounded like they were playing specifically for me. When he played that Natalie Cole I went to the booth and asked him if they were liking that record in New York. He said they are loving it out there. Dj Quad, stand up and take a bow cause you know you snapped on that one. It was a great night of sound and education because i think a lot of those cuts were played for the first time in chicago(of course i'm not sure). I definately felt like i got a well deserved bang for my buck and i've had that feeling too few times in the last year.

Joe killed it, my ears too...

If it weren't for the speakers crackling so much, his set would have been a 90 out of 100. I really enjoyed the music he played, and have now heard that one REALLY long track with the crazy percussion and rough ravey sounding bassline 3 times now with Joe working the EQ on it WAY better than Derrick May did. Derrick did a really tight job with it still, but Joe was bassically creating some new track the way he was cutting out of the drums and back in.

I agree with jamie about that AWADE. All I can say is WOW. That was definitely my moment of the night, or should I say my 12 minute moment cause he worked that track forever and in a goood way. I just closed my weyes and danced and lost it.

What was that opening track he played? Twas dope.

Julius did a nice job of covering ground working in different styles. One track with a piano and some deeper chords had me losing it (vague details). I enjoyed how into his DJing he was.

A good night, and I NEED to get some earplugs if i ever plan to go back, I am strait DEF today.

Peace!

Wow. This was one of the best sets that I've attended this year! It's always great to see so many dhp faces, and meet new ones. There were still a few people that I didn't get to meet though...that's my fault.

Anyway. I took some shots of the night, I stress some...because I had a "battery issue"! Hopefully, they will put some in the "Zentra Zone"...

I know I'm late to this thread but I was gonna say stuff anyways. That party was waaay OFF THE CHAIN. Julius beat it like it was his last day on Earth. He had me jacking like I was on acid. Two weeks in a row I've heard this cat and both times that shit was off the hook. Me & my boy were like "I hope Joe can top this shit". Little did we know what we were in for. Joe Claussell BEAT THAT SHIT LIKE IT WAS NOBODY'S BUSINESS.I was totally blown away. I wasn't expecting a beatdown like that. That was MAD energy times 10. That's what I want when jocks come from outta town. Serious heat. Thank you for not playing Disco(we've got enough of that here already). That was just raw...just raw. Donna Edwards you were right. I hope he comes back to Zentra. I think a lot of people should play at Zentra..I like that spot. The sounds Friday night were B E A T I N G !!!!! Thank you Julius and Joe..y'all showed y'all's asses Friday night. Two weeks in a row..two dope ass parties..shit I aint been to a weak party since.......
Peace

Man, what a party!!! The music was off da hook!!! I haven't been beat down like that in a long time! It was one of the best parties I went to this year. I had heard that Julius beat the weekend before so I was curious to hear him, especially since I had never heard him play before. As soon as I made my way upstairs he was beating it and he didn't stop til he got off the tables. It got me thinking, "if he's beating it like this then what is Joe gonna bring!?" Well Joe definitely "bought it!" He beat it to def just as Julius had done. With both DJ's I couldn't stop movin'! It felt good to look at the DJ booth and see both of them feelin' what they were playing. I hadn't danced that hard in a long time. Both of them bought me to near tears! It felt so good to release what I had been going through on the dancefloor. Mad props to both Julius & Joe!!!!

Hi guys. I'm new here but I just wanted to say that it was a great night!! I REALLY enjoyed the mad thinker. I had never heard him spin before and he was off the chain!! I do like Joe Claussell and I wanted to hear him spin live it's just that I'm not that into the tribal stuff but overall he's a very talented man and he was feelin it fo sho!! It was great to see so many dj's come out...ron trent, alan king, greg gray, frique, derrick carter and andre harris...great support!!
