CD label kits

Whcih one is the best and why ?
I have been searching for a good kit that will last for a while and has reasonably priced refill sheets.

I've been getting by with scribbling my name and the cd title using a marker, but now I want to put labels on the actual disks.

I have used NEATO in the past. Easy to use, the refills are everywhere and it comes with the templates & software to print the labels

I wouldn't say it's the best, but I use Avery Labels #5692. Although you have to apply them by hand they work for me, and they look pretty decent too. With the software, you can add your own designs and stuff. Those come with 40 labels which have applicators for standard jewel cases as well as the thin ones.

They also have different ones that include "J Cards", but it only contains 30 labels. The costs range between 14 - 30 bucks depending on the amount of labels in the package. They have other packages, but those two are the only ones that come to mind.

I just picked up a Memorex kit at Office Depot on sale for 6 bucks. I've only made one label so far but I'm pleased with the product. Not sure how much the refills are but I know they're often on sale.

I used to buy the Neato glossy labels for CD production. They are great. Super-thin, so as to prevent getting jammed in slot-loading CD players, glossy finish, and look great with color photos. For software, you can download their templates in MS Word, Quark, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. I use the Photoshop template for all of my CD covers.

The cost of Neato labels in the long-run is not so cool... That's when I discovered Meritline's labels. They make labels that use the same templates as Neato and the other major label kits... only at %50 the price. Try them at:

I first started with CD Stomper.



It was inexpensive, it came with 60 laser labels, a CD "thingy" that help you press the labels neatly onto the CD and software.

Also, if you are interested... in some free to try software there is this program called Acousta CD. It has a database of every CD laser label and you can put on artwork as well. Here's the link: http://download.com.com/3000-2169-10188369.html . The trial is only 7 days, so if I was you, download it, if you like it, go out and get your blank CD labels, print them all up during the trial period. Done and done.

Go to http://www.download.com, if you have blank laser label and don't want to buy software, just download a program that will accomplish your task.
