And, once again, I'm not trying to be funny. I just wanna know how you see it. I drew my own conclusion / opinion, I'd love to hear yours.

Sorry Armen, I wasn't intentionally trying to group anyone together. I asked this question siimply because ngeso is in Germany, and so am I. I just wanted his impression of the scene here in Germany (in relation to Ricardo, who is well reagarded here), that's all. Ricardo is big here, and all over. No offense meant. I just never saw his mixes on the mix libarary here. Please. I never meant any offence by this.

Sure, understood. A bad choice of words last night (dunno what was in my drink). I would like to hear how he feels about the scene over here, the clubs and the people. cheers

Actually, my post was probably tinged with a dissapointment of the Frankfurt scene these days, things are on the up in other cities. I guess there was some alterior motive there. Have you been over Here much Chris ? p.s. I started working in clubs when I was in Cov, any decent parties around at the moment ?

nah I haven't, its on my hitlist with Berlin tho - really want to go to Cocoon and Watergate...

haha @ Cov as well, am in Luton at the mo, working my placement year with GM but goin back to COv next year to finish Uni, its pretty shit tbh, and has been since i got there! there aren't any decent parties at all... The one good place that used to put good parties on has now gone 'upmarket' - Careys, apart from that theres nothing here at all... when i get back hopefully am gonna put a night on, but there ain't many places to choose from!

    Simon Dunmore for me...

He hails from Darmstadt, south of Frankfurt, where I live. His family moved here from Chilé in the 70's, I reckon. In the early '90s Ricardo was notoriously renowned for hosting the best underground parties in the most outlandish locations in the whole region, with really famous DJs the likes of which we had never seen or heard of before. He brought us Boo Williams, Bernard Badie, Chez Damier, John Aquaviva and a host of others. Mind you, in a town of 120.000, with absolutely no club culture. I was a regular attendee along with a bunch of mates. I guess we became the first generation of "author"-DJs here - up to that stage there had been only Friday night discotheque jocks generically playing the club's stock records.

Anyway, from '91 to '99 I ran a small club here, staging a mix of Acid Jazz, funk, soul, hip hop, jungle and D&B, and American house parties and concerts four nights a week. The club was heavily modelled on a Piller/Petersonesque, Dingwallsish, London-styled eclecticism, or what I held for it, because for me London was the centre of the universe. They ran things in London, and I wanted to take it and graft it onto provincial Germany.

Cut a long story short, I eventually ended up promoting Ricardo as one of my house residents. We worked together for three or four years, he had a monthly gig. Of course nowadays he's world famous in Berlin. I run into him about once every two years, and we have a chat and a laugh. You could say I gave him some of his earliest regular club breaks back then...

Also, I shagged his later girlfriend three times, before she eventually decided to pick him.....

Oh yeah, I know Alter Ego as well, and the whole Ongaku/Playhouse gang. Jörn and I are summer drinking buddies, we hang out at the same beergarden. Way before he met Roman and got into electronic music, he played guitar and sang lead in a rock band. They appeared at my uni commencement bash in 1987 - that's the first time I saw him.

Wow, small world innit ! Funny stuff. Chris, - my first job in a club was as a dancer at Careys, back when Tee Smith from Ministry was resident, and CJ Macintosh and Kenny Karpenter were Guest spinners. Give me a shout if you plan to visit cocoon, the place itself is amaaazing.
Ngeso - That's a cool history y' got. I used work @ oneninetyeast, and go to the Loft, U60 and Monza (when Mandy were still gaining worldwide popularity). I guess we might know some of the same people

Richard Roundtree, my second cousin. Chuck D & Flava Flav know me by face, after all the times I came next door to complain about the noise, when they rehearsed next door to me. I was glad when they hit it big and moved the phuc out!
