    Sound Forge Question

Has anyone experienced recroding into SF to find that there was nothing recorded? The meters bumping and the signs are there but no wave when you check the monitor.

Then, I re-record the same song with the same settings's and it's there? Hmmmmmm

trying to record a mix directly into SF due to my external audio burner being suspect. I would hate to go through this to find that there's nothing recorded

i have a dell laptop that experienced a lot of glitches when recording into any software...with an audio interface. i used various audio interfaces to try it out because the laptop itself has no line in...so after doing a lot of research online i found out that some laptops have issues with how the usb ports are wired...with the dell specifically you would get a glitch or dropout whenever the laptops fans cycled on and off...really sucks...folks hd more luck using firewire interfaces if their laptop had firewire...many laptops also no longer offer pcmcia slots, instead they have expresscard slots and there are no expresscard audio interfaces available! there is one but its more for gamimg...

Please pardon my ingorance. But when people are recording into SF are you going through the mic prop in the laptop or using an external sound card?

don't use the mic input, you need a proper stereo input, preferably through a good audio interface...

This is funny for many of the things you pointed out and more.

My interface for my laptop is fire wire Not USB.

This problem just started about 6 months ago. Have no idea what started it.

My laptop has Cubase sx3, an audio cleaner and of course Media encoder for my CJ shows. With these three programs I have no problem with recordings.

It’s just SF on my laptop this happens. I even when to Sony to check for updates and still the problem persist. None of these problems happen with SF on my desktop just on the laptop.

Also, b4 I had the interface for the LT and I recorded into the stereo line IN this never happened but, I did experience a buzzing noise in the recordings. After months of sending the LT back to the company and getting no results; I finally found out what was causing the buzzing in recordings. For some strange reason having the LT and the Rane MP2016 plugged into the same electric socket it caused this buzzing in the recordings. Once I had separate electrical sources there was no buzz in the recordings. Now really... WTF!

If you can help me on that one then I will start calling GOD! hahahaha
