Burt moved to the mid-west a few yrs ago, I'm still cool with his baby's mama and she says he doing well. He gave up spinning a looong time ago. The original system was a RLA system with all the bells and whistles ie: zanz. By the time I got there all that was left of the orig RLA stuff was the huge ass bass bins and the 3 way electronic crossover. Soundman Frankie Beauchamp (Design Studio) did alot of modifications over the yrs after Richard past away.

The only bad thing? What about that floor? Hahaha... You could feel that shit give with every stomp of the crowd. That had to be some kind of violation.

I tried really hard to like Club 88. The vibe was weird to me. It's hard to explain. Zanzibar was like being at home from the first moment I stepped into it. Those cats in 88 just semed like they were on some other shit. Some of my boys went there and liked it. I never got into it.

I think you're thinking of ELmwood Park in East ORange, for the Basketballtmatchups, that is across the street from VLD ELementry school.. Or you could be thinking of Colgate Park in Orange NJ, that is across the street from Orange High (which is now Orange Middle School), Bogies is a DOne deal.. there is a Parking Lot for A hugh New highrise Apt building.. Bogies was the spot for the First Fridays party..DJ Hot ROd was the dj there.. He works with Me Now.. I got in 88 for FRee.. my cousin was the bouncer there.. and the Cop.. YAY!!!!!!

Me neither, I went in club 88 one time, didn't care for the vibe, saw my best friend's father in there and I knew it wasnt the place for me.

    I tried it...and tried it...and tried it...

it was even too old for my old ass! I could never get into it...it always weirded me out how you had these old asses sweating up a storm in 3 piece suits and fedora's....crazy.

The system was bangin though and you could always find a MILF, who was past her prime, wanting to cut in on you and your date, and show you that she could "drop it like it's hot".

at least that was my experience....

Johnson used to tear shit up, At Cosmos, In the late 80's to early 90's, John Crockett, Yeah, The floor at 88 was wack to the ninth power, John, Me and my boys, Put some baby powder on the floor, One night(Me and my boys were all getting loose with a few young ladies, By the mirror, Underneath the Dj booth/LOL, John, We both share the same memory of Curtis Hairston,

Perfoming At club 88, In the late 80's, And, Curtis Hairston, Did not receive the respect that he most definitely deserved, From the crowd at 88 that ninth i saw him perform in 1988(WORD), Though, I've seen Adeva tear shit up at 88, In the early 90's(It was on a college night at 88, The crowd was mad young, But, Whoever was mixing was rockin mad hard to the ninth power/LOL).

I used to love that spot in Irvington, that was back in the day when I used to drink White Russians and could dance all night in 5 inch heels..lol. Oh what memories...as far as Brokers/Club 88 I have had some nice times there as well but the ultra conservative vibe grew old for me...the guys in their suits and women ( including myself) in those tight dresses was a cute look back then when we were out to catch...Hey anyone have any memories of Bogie's? I met my ex-husband there, I actually had Kim Davis play @ my reception in '89...
