I have no complaints where I live. However, I am concerned about the high rate of violence in the Chi. I pray constantly for an end to the madness. Everyday I just thank God for another peaceful day where my children can play; in the same breath I pray for whatever evil spirit that dwells among the youth is uprooted.
As a parent we HAVE to be more responsible for our children. If you live in a neighborhood where violence is prevalent, don't send your child to the store at night, or let them stay out late. It's horrible but the parent may have to keep their children indoors or get on a bus a go somewhere so their children can play. I grew up in Englewood & South Chicago, my mother and grandmother rarely let us go outside in the neighborhood. My mother always planned weekend "downtown" trips, trips to the playground in another area of the city and we went riding around to get outside of our area. The point is that I am making is that people need to either get more creative with their time and spend it with their kids or they need to become more vigilant in calling the police for their safety. Which is part of the reason why the violence is crazy now because people are too afraid of retaliation.
