    1. Cabs charge $50 (plus toll) to get home from both airports. $75 from Newark.
    2. Some cabs in mid/downtown don't want to go "all the way uptown".
    3. Everything is more expensive here - especially fast food.
    4. You get around much faster by walking to your destination - especially during rush hour.
    5. Finding parking spots can be quite challenging! Meter maids are always on prowl.
    6. Summertime get extremely hot! The Big Apple becomes the Baked Apple!
    7. Plenty of rats and cockroaches.
    8. The aroma of hot garbage, chicken wings and marijuana (wait a minute, that's the 'hood smell).
    9. My Italian/Polish/Jewish neighbors complain about "all the foreigners". Fuhgetaboutit!
"The one thing no one can take from you is your mind."
"When your man says 'No' ... Negra says 'Yes'!"

    5. I read that Chi is one of the "greenest" cities

but as someone who is considering Chi, I'm really concerned that i keep hearing this segregated/prejudice thing over and over again. someone said tho who is from chi, that it's not the city but the people who refuse to leave Southside who keep saying that

Basically...hel,Hyde Park and many parts of the north side are very mixed.

I lived on the north side 2 times in my life and it bugged me out on how mixed the areas were.

I'm a born south sider, but my eyes got opened when I lived up north.

Yes I have. Just dissing a few things that as you can tell, aren't that big of a deal. The Condo explosion and an ugly yonge street is hardly reason to move.
But the superiority complex of the people is the reason the rest of the country hates us LOL

do you mean the lakefront revitaliztion that never happened, or just an unimpressive skyline of mainly condos?

the banking industry almost totally dictates the skyline - unlike other cities

too many even older ex hipsters living in midwood or some other hood so far away it's in a different area code telling the slightly younger ex hipsters that the city has always been changing and that there's always been a class of bitter, on the way out folks bitching about 'their city changing' when in fact the current real estate price increases are beyond anything the city has experienced before.

    i hate strollers too!

You noticed that ones complaining most about hipsters are the ones who could get easily confused with hipsters regardless of whether or not they are actually hipsters.

There are various neighborhoods that are mixed but it's been over time.
we still have some ways to go.
and as for cost of living, I personally feel it cost too much money to live here.
I found many places that are reasonable but there are also other expenses in this city too that make the cost of living a challenge.
The prejudice thing I'm referring to is downtown mainly... there are some not all, caucasians that feel a sense of entitlement of walking down the street and will run right into you to make you move out of the way. or if I'm shopping and I'm looking at a sweater they reach over me right in front of my face and don't say excuse me or nothing and the store isn't even crowded it happens a lot.
    5. It is one of the greenest cities but I was just venting because you can never have too many trees.
as for poor air quality I was comparing Chicago to Canada, I went to Van Couver and the air was so clean I got turned out. In B.C., their busses don't emit exaust in the air.
