Are there any people out there who used to frequent the Zanz when Tony H was resident? Any willing to be interviewed about it?

I'm doing a sleevenote for a Tony Humphries Choice compilation coming out on Azuli and I'd like to interview some folks from here about Tony. Please PM me. Thanks.

You should find some people here who went.
Can't wait to see the compilation. I also dug Frankie Knuckles and Danny Tenaglia. Did you write the notes for those, too?

    Peace,

Yeah, I wrote those, too. I've had a few emails already, but if there are any more guys out there, I'd still like to hear from them. Thanks.

Mmm, don't think it would be fair to do that. It's up to Azuli not me, really. Have a look on their website, they might have a preview. It's good, though.

I haunted the Zanz. Sporatically in '86/'87 (I was just graduating from High School), then regularly from 88' to '91. I've seen Chaka, Curtis Hairston, The Jungle Brothers, Marshall Jefferson, Colonel Abrams and Screaming Rachel( and a host of others who escape me at the moment) perform there during that time. Listening to Tony Humphries during those times helped shaped the very foundation of how, why and when I play songs.

I lived in the Zanz at that time, from 80 to when it closed. I would love to talk about the legendary T.H.
    Peace Q. :D

you may want to post your question on Yellorange's message board under the "Club Zanzibar: Reflections & Memories" forum....quite a few people wrote write-ups of their Zanz days....
