Unhappy Company Layoffs and the Economy

Our company just let go of a lot of people today including one developer in the IT department that I'd always shoot the shit with and vent about IT shit. Now I'm bummed because he was a really good guy and is the bread winner for his family. I really hate days like this and I really hate seeing people lose their jobs.

I blame all this economy shit on Bush and the fuckin' Republicans. Eat a cock and die, fuckers! I seriously hope Obama wins the election and becomes our next President and will hopefully bring some much needed CHANGE because this shit is ridiculous.

    Thumbs down

Our building has 4 floors used to have 10 different tenants and now only 4 companies remain. We laid off about 20 people a month ago.

Was getting on the elevator a couple of weeks ago when this chick I know from another company got on carrying a plant and a box of stuff. I asked her what was she doing, re decorating her office? She said no, she had got laid off. Said she came to work that morning and they told her that they were eliminating her job and they didn't need her anymore. Then she started to cry-had worked there 10 years.

the world is changing... Asia is competing now so of course we're going to lay off people. There's much more to this than just this administration.

when I was listening to BBC News, they were reporting similar problems in UK.

I hear ya, bro. IT seems to be a good industry to be in but it also depends on the position. I've noticed a lot of developers that are out there looking for work, while network/sys admins and engineers along with DBAs seem to be okay. The medical and law enforcement fields are also good to be in. Jeez, it's starting to get scary.

Damn! props, bro! TRowe Price is a good company and there aren't many Domino Engineers out there so that makes you more valuable.

Citrix, Cisco (gonna try that one again), SAN , Sharepoint (lots of demand cuz its cheaper than Websphere).

Domino has made me a hot commod for sure and getting my cert in Dom7 and taking classes in Dom8 definitely a huge boost.

Never seen anyone get layed off at my job.

The pest control industry doesn't slow down, no matter the season.

I feel for all that are going through the headaches of this economy, its really tough but we all just gotta hang in there.

I'm glad I get to take the company truck home each evening, almost 60 dollars to fill up.

It's tough being a parent through these economic times, gotta keep hustlin out here to get it done.

"The Home Depot will close 15 underperforming U.S. stores that do not meet the Company's targeted returns. The store locations are as follows:

-- #2015 East Fort Wayne, Indiana
    -- #2032 Marion, Indiana
    -- #2310 Frankfort, Kentucky
    -- #379 Opelousas, Louisiana
    -- #2819 Cottage Grove, Minnesota
-- #6901 East Brunswick, New Jersey
-- #6904 Saddle Brook, New Jersey
    -- #6171 Rome, New York
    -- #3702 Bismarck, North Dakota
    -- #3874 Findlay, Ohio
    -- #3865 Lima, Ohio
    -- #4552 Brattleboro, Vermont
    -- #4932 Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
-- #4933 Fond du Lac, Wisconsin
    -- #4913 NW Milwaukee, Wisconsin"

Looks like folks living out in the sticks will have to look elsewhere for hardware. Too bad these Home Depots probably put all the local mom 'n pop stores out of business.
