I was given an hp officejet 6110 all in one printer...I downloaded the software (from hp's website )that was needed to run the all in one on my pc. After the download..all hell broke loose. Trojan horses, backdoor shit, worm shit...I get all these windows informing me that my pc is infected...Now I lost my homepage..when I log on to the internet I get some advertisement for an anti virus software. I already had pc tools firewall and antivirus installed...I allowed the hp all in one software to be downloaded, thinking it was safe...

You probably already had the trojan, I doubt that you got the trojan from hp. Running/downloading the executable file probably awoke the sleeping giant.

If you can't wipe the hardrive clean and start over with a fresh install of the OS, then go here: http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22

It might take a few days to have an expert get back to you (a lot of people are always in line for this free service) and it might also take a few days to totally clear your system with their help, but it is completely worth the wait if you have info that you can't lose on your hardrive.

    Good luck.

    Stan: FYI

Superantivirus does not run real time. It only checks your computer when you run the program. If you want it to run real time you have to buy the the full version. Also, missed 91 adware cookies than a-squared free found afterwards.

AVG - is still free but has a freakin new quirk. Everyday it updates it's database but then makes you reboot your computer. In other words, you have to restart your computer after you just started it. I know it's free and all but it's still a pain it the ass.

Running avast now. All's cool for now.

What about going to a restore point on your computer. I did the google pack and ran that. It took away some of the stuff I had on the computer but not all of it. I also ran ad-aware and Ccleaner and my sbc antivirus. Got rid of most everything, but I kept on getting these pop ups and I had extra programs that I don't want in my computer. Then it hit me, what if I go to a previous restore point? I did that and my computer went back to normal. I'm just explaining what happened to me... not saying it will work for you but it's worth a try.
