I don't think any Daw is better than the other. All depends on what you like.

But I do remember reading somewhere an analogy that I liked. It went something like this:

If you want a suit that looks nice, then grab one you like off the rack. That's Cubase. But if you want a suit that's tailor made, fit's your body, and looks nice. That's Logic.

Conformability is the preference here. IMO

I have friends that use different DAW than I do (cubase 4). I find that all the DAW's have their own unique functions and that’s what separates them from each other.

I like what logic has to offer, I like what DP has to offer, Pro-tools etc.
But I feel that whatever you’re more comfortable with you should stick with that platform and master it.

There are so many pl-ins out there that if your platform doesn't do something that another DAW does it’s quite possible to buy that plug-in.

I also think that if you know your DAW and it works for you why try to learn/purchase any other DAW. Maybe you maybe unsatisfied with your DAW and that’s what would prompt you to explore. Finding your nitch is what it’s all about.

    For example:

I've been using Sound forge since version 5 and now I have version 8 and will upgrade to 9 soon. In between those versions I have obtained copie(s) of Wave lab.

Predominantly they do the same thing but, if I already know the ins and outs of SF and I’m able to get a product out faster because I’m most comfy with the program why try to learn WL.

To further express conformability; I know Cubase and know it pretty well. Not only do I produce tracks with it, I also make edits with it as well. And by performing these tasks in programs I’m comfortable with I’m able to get the product out within a satisfying time with precision.

As stated initially if you’re comfortable with what you are working with and it gets the job done to your satisfaction; why leave the platform?

Does this make any damn sense?

    BTW.

I wolud like the chance to see what logic has to offer. No Hatten her.
Then again Logic is for mac's and Im a PC user.

I am a little upset that after logic 5 they left PC they left PC users standing with their pants down.

Forget to mention that I once had a copy Of Logic.

The environment is what I like about Logic.

I also like the external plug in. With Logic, you can plug your external gear into the environment. Which means you can use Logic's or 3rd party plug ins on your external instruments.

I feel you on your references but the meaning of comfort is still the topic and in my case Logic is for mac users only. So, Im just a stick in the mud.

I will tell you though that when the time comes to replace my existing PC I am thinking of getting a mac. Ah G5 of course.

I say this because I like digital performer as well.

    carry on people
enough of my babble.... I'm nothing but a Cubase cheer leading terd. lol

Bit of a trade off in my opinion.

Pro Tools ends up being more expensive by the time you buy all of the VST's where as Logic bundles everything nicely. The difference here is, the bundled stuff in Logic is used in most of the dance music coming out today which is why so much stuff on Beatport sounds exactly the same.

    Again, just my opinion.
