    76th & Cottage Grove...who remembers....

    The Basement??

Seems like yesterday, but those parties started in 2001.Took a minute for it to kick, but when it did,boy did it!!

Thinking on many great times there.Rich's thread aboput after hours parties got me to reminiscing.

Remebering the dope sets played there by Donna Edwards and Ron Trent and many others....to the closing party in '04 with myself,Torin, and Craig Loftis.

Playing certain songs,so folks could clown, especially Mayor Bryne and Granma.

The smells, the sweat, the strobes, the hiss of the bullet tweeters.

I don't have many pics from the parties there, which in today's party climate is a good thing.Yet,we got pretty wild down there.

I found a few pics from the last party on my old machine....

I remember. Resident Dj(and guests) who always brought the heat, banging system, packed house, heat and humidity from all of the folks dancing, sweating and having a good time. Everytime I drive by that corner I smile from the fond memories.

Damn shame, I never made to this place until I moved South, the last year, it was around. I'm suprised the tenants didn't have issues with the noise. Plenty of room for jacking, down there.

    Thumbs up

Yes sir....Jamie, I remember this party like it was yesterday, no party yet (to me) has measured up to the energy and spirit that was in the air that night. This one lady that came out with Leona was in the middle of the dance floor scared and crying because she said, "I never been to nothing like this before....something wrong in here, please take me home, there's a spirit in here". I did not know this lady, but my "nice" ass left the party and took her home because she was shaking.

It was like a saintified holy spirit thang going on; when I came back, people where still shouting and I'm serious, I cried to. (I'm about to cry right now talking about this shit) lol.

That's how deep that last party was, nothing like it.....thanks Jamie

Man J, remember that time the cops came and you had to shut the music off, and the crown kept chatning "Hey hey hey...hey hey...hey hey"(BAD LUCK) the whole time the cops were there?

That last nite was crazy.I don't even think it was Bad Luck, cause I hardly play that song...and I can't even recall what was playing.

I do know that my guy told me the law was upstairs and to kill the music.

I shut the music off abruptly and the fucking place went nuts.I mean nuts.Beating on the walls and ducts and chanting and screaming all types of shit.

I though to myself.."All of our asses are going to jail tonite..."

I think the music was off far longer than expected, cause no one told me the cops left...

They didn't even stop the party...and I kicked it back up.

That was one of the greatest moments I have ever experienced as a dj.

I still bug out on the fact that I was feeling like pure shit, due to me getting 2 teeth pulled the day before...and gave folks a great time and even had one my damn self.

these are the experiences that I'm looking for when I go out - it's an incredible phenomena and I even the vidid descriptions here barely shadow what it's like being in the midst of that kind of energy

it's like rocket fuel - even today at the ripe ol age of (nun o' ya biz), I'd (as Rich's post speaks of ) leave one of these parties and go to work if need be,feeling as if I'd gotten the best nights sleep, still buzzing and electrified from have a collective posession ride me

Man,I have thought many times about doing that, but things are very different today.I wouldn't want to get sued and shit, cause someone drank the punch and failed a drug test.
