NICE AZZ PARTY!!!
Just wanted to give soem kudos to Terri Bond & Delano Smith for a great party last Saturday at PI. The place has a swank feel to it and the patrons came out dressed to impress and ready to party. The energy of the crowd was what made the party for me. Sean Smith set the table real right with an uptempo set that got the people moving in their seats and on the dance floor. I followed Sean and kinda went with the vibe. I was able to play both classics and new music, with a few Detroit classics thrown in there to pay homage to the "D". The crowd responded by ripping the dance floor with a myriad of moves all night. Norm Talley took over after me and continued the vibe with an equally-blistering set of his own that had the crowd losing it (self included). Delano Smith closed the ight off with a few tracks that had me asking "what is that?" Delano played one track that he was working on that really had the crowd moving. As the party ended, people were still rolling up to the place like "damn, we missed it?" YES U DID!!!
After the party, Sean & I played a 2-hour guest spot for Reggie Harrell on "Club Insomnia" on WJLB-FM Radio, downtown in Detroit.
All in all, the trip was an amazing experience. Got to check out the party at "Old Miami" with Kori, Taz, & Emuzik, which was a nice azz place also. The outside area was incredible!!!
Got to hang with my Nu Bang brother Rick Wilhite as well, where I learned the "detroit cuff", an indicator that somebody is beating the box (whoo!!!). Good to see my Detroit fam up in the place (Emuzik, Righteous, Mike Clark, Art, Angelete, Reggie, and others)
Can't wait to go back when Jamie plays...
