Intel Celeron vs. Intel Pentium Processor?

Which is faster? (See below) Or are they both just as fast? I am getting my Daughter for her 18th B-Day a Dell Laptop.

neither......they both run hot in laptops.......I dont even think they still make laptops with celeron anymore. Dual core 2 is the way to go

Not a matter of speed, but performance. I know that on desktops, Pentiums outperform Celerons.

Get a Intel Core 2 Duo and an Athlon X2 processor (Much cheaper than an INtel Processor but great performance as well).

For the past 3 years, every PC I've upgraded or built had AMD Processors. 65 bucks for a 2 GHZ Dual Core Athlon Processor, or 120 to 150 for the Intel Equivalent. Keeps my customers very happy and money in their pockets.

the dell i bought came with Intle's best core duo chip

As long as you're running Vista or the 64 bit version of XP, then that's a good deal for the PC with 4 gigs.

i do lots of video rendering so the ram is needed

Actually they do, we recently received 4 Lenovo Laptops through a grant with Celeron Processors.

They were free, lol.

Normally we wouldn't touch Celeron Processors for our desktops and Laptops.

Celeron has existed for years, and you might have noticed that all the cheap laptop features this Processor. So in other words, Celeron is way weaker than Intel and AMD, which are both great, but i'm leaning towards AMD. Drop the Celeron if you need the machine for more than net-browsing and listening to tunes.

All laptops run hot. Thermal dissipation isn't a gauge of performance.
