    Promos

Im just a bit concerned with the abuse of destruction of the word "PROMO". Back in the day, it used to mean

    1) Advance PROMOtional copy
    2) Not yet released / Exclusive
    3) Free

But nowadays with traxsource, the word promo is the opposite.

    1) Not advance
    2) Available to everyone
    3) Double the price of a normal track

Yet many producers swear by it "Check out my new track PROMO on traxsource. for $3.99"

anyone have any thoughts on this?

It's called capitalism. Also, because most DJs are cheap ass muhfuckas (yeah, I said it ) and complain about paying anything for a download, jacking up the price on a download is the equivalent of making it a promo.

Yes the terminology/phrasing should be adjusted. Maybe call it advanced or pre-release... but I mean does it really matter in the end??? What does it matter if I get a real "PROMO" sent to me from said label/artist and then buy a "PROMO" from Traxsource. I know the difference....

I think you are splitting hairs here....

Doug: THANK YOU!!! Hahaha... I can't tell you how many times I've been looked at like an alien with a question mark on it's forehead when I say that "I just spent $80 on Traxsource this week"

Because one is sent to you free, and the other you found yourself along with every other tom, dick, and DJ.

I have no problem with $1.99 tracks, or even $3.99 tracks.. its just the marketing I have issues with.
