The Ticking Of The Clock


I always have a yearning when I have spoken to you;
One minute I can hear your voice, the next minute, we are through.

It seems to me that's how it goes, the silence makes me blue;
I guess the silence lets me know I can't get enough of you.

I reach my hand through the phone, you're always out of reach;
You must come closer to the phone, is now my silent speech.

The time slows down, it seems to crawl, slowly the clock hands slide;
I know that you are gone from me, another day, I must abide.

I sit quietly till it's time for me to shut my eyes;
Perchance to meet you in my dreams, and kiss my brown eyed girl.

my fight to be free

i work
what things employment can provide
my girls my cars my clothes my stride
my swagger my pride

even though its hot
runny noses smile
under umbrellas that
congregate beneath the moon
chances are
bowls full
change directions
in the midnight sky
frowns
are only happy children
doing handstands

missed one day

it was so special and so true
who could ask for a better friend than you
you made me laugh you made me cry
made me angry and made me sigh

but those are the things that friends go through
it’s amazing I could misconstrue
all of the things we did and shared
thinking you'd always be there

only now I see it’s a lie
because time continues to fly
and no word have you sent
until all your other friends were spent

and none was left to show they care
they had all gone elsewhere
and when you felt the hole in your soul
you pondered on things---low and behold!

the only one that you could trust in
was the one who was better than kin
who never would harm or take advantage
took care the rapport not to damage

now you desire what cannot be found
because I’m too busy being around
those who are in fact true friends
and not those who just pretend

to be sincere and concerned
and all that is given is just burned
into an ash that blows away
until it is missed one day

but at least a lesson has been learned
a friendship kept is one that is earned
