This is all just selective irrationality: for instance, take a look at the amount of folks that die in car accidents every year. But we don’t ban cars now do we? Nope. We ALLOW those deaths because as a society we rationalized that the benefits of having cars outweighs the deaths –that the deaths caused by automobiles are LESS in costs than the benefits of you being able to drive your ass home at three in morn after you danced the night away in your smoke-free club.

    So tell me what's fucked up again?
    shut it space fingers.

    ever heard of hydrogen cyanide? that shit gets me real nauseous & makes me wanna puke, especially if i'm exhausted or famished. i could never ever get used to cig smoke and i have to work in these joints so it's not just smoking a square. i get direct contact for hours at a time and i have no control whatsoever. maybe i'm a big pussy but tell that to the hydrogen cyanide. that shit sucks.

    people could do whatever the hell they want just don't come around me with that shit. how long would you stand in front of someone talking to you with stank ass breath, or how about i eat several king cans of beans on a bed of cabbage and come and fart in your general direction for a couple hours. i know how much you love ass but not what comes out of it right?

    smoking is for pussies. grow some balls and quit. unless you wanna end up in the hospital hanging on to your life (god forbid) because your coughing lung parts out your mouth. re-thinking this whole COOL thing might be your only option playa.

    While it is unlikely that a person would suffer cyanide poisoning from cigarette smoke, breathing in small amounts of hydrogen cyanide may cause:

    * headache
    * dizziness
    * weakness
    * nausea
    * vomiting

    Larger amounts may cause:

    * gasping
    * irregular heartbeats
    * seizures
    * fainting
    * rapid death

    Do they have a special smoking permit.? Some clubs do. How many people were smoking? Looks like it will be airport security at Santos soon now too.

    I agree. I understand how RAS and other non smokers feel and I respect that and won't smoke around them - hell I feel guilty now days for smoking in clubs that permit smoking; but IMO there several different approaches he could have taken and he chose the least favorable/most bitchass option.

    Now, what if a high-ranking government official, international diplomat, CEO or other high-profile figure walked into the club to get his/her HOUSE ON! Just think about the buzz and publicity the club will get once the word spreads.

    Therefore, if President Barack Hussein Obama walked into the club, sat at his private table, ordered bottle service and pulled out his smokes, would you call him a PUSSY or say any of the above to his face?

    And, always know the owner of the club controls what goes on. Some people cannot drink without a smoke and some people drink when they tire of dancing. Therefore, SMOKING = MORE MONEY for the owner.

    No disrespect, but djs are a dime-a-dozen, but a succesful, money-making, JAMMED-PACKED club is hard to come by. If a dj doesn't like the smoking, he/she should find another club to play in. Complaining gets you BLACKED BALLED.

    We all have choices: Either we accept (whether legal or not), start our own things or complain...WE HAVE CHOICES AND OPTIONS.

    I smoke, but I respect non smokers not wanting to be around it, but makin' it illegal at clubs and Disco's was goin' too far, and it just ain't the same no more because of it imo. Like it or not drugs, alcoholic bevs, and smoking cigs is a part of that scene, and part of what makes it relaxed and exciting. Nowadays people line up outside the clubs to smoke...I'm surprised there isn't more fights, etc because of it.

    Clubs for non smokers only would however be a good solution. I'm guessing most DJ's, bouncers, and bar staff knows what it's like at clubs before they apply for jobs there. You know what comes with it. It ain't no fitness gym and it wasn't meant to be either.

    Not saying smoking is straight up GOOD for your health, but it's known to prevent some deceases too, and not only causing them. I also question the bombardment of anti smoking warnings because out of the thousands of people I've known in my lifetime I have yet to know ONE person who has died of smoking related illness, and that includes my great grandparents who both lived 'til they were 99 and smoked since they were about 10.

    Smoking has become a scapegoat for a lot of other things in society that's more dangerous. If you live in a city as an example the pollution from traffic etc is said to equal that of smoking 1-2 packs a day.

    How so? You wanna smoke. Go outside. I for one welcomed that law because for years i was working in clubs and going home with my hair, clothes and records smelling like cigar / cigarette smoke. And inhaling 2nd hand smoke for 8 hours nonstop. If the law went too far, what would be the remdy that isn't going too far?

    I think it went too far cause by outlawing smoking it killed the mood a little bit, and as a smoker you can never truly relax anymore like if you drink you want a smoke to go with it. I'd rather stay home to be honest.
    Edit: The law could be different in Norway from the US also! They're trying to get a law goin' here now where you can't smoke in your own house if you have kids, and it's harder to get a job here now if you smoke. They manage to get the laws through also because non smokers just sit back and take it. F*ck that I say

    An obvious fair remedy was for militant non-smokers to open their own bars and clubs

    Have to agree that heavy smoking around records is not good for the covers...lol...they get yellow...I've gotten some old records in the mail lately that's been so yellow from probably being smoked around, that I've had to change the covers.

    Shouldnt that sign say; Stop BITCHING instead of Snitching?

    I mean .... honestly that is the most passive aggressive, bitchazz tactic.

    SPINELESS....

    Ras... you come on here BRAGGING about calling 311 on a club with smoking patrons..... Like you did something other than look totally bitchazz stupid, and PUBLICALLY WORLDWIDE label yourself a cowardly BAM who just happens to be a DJ who gives and promotes an outdoor event ... (which you WANT people- smokers and nonsmokers and venue owners to attend Im sure ) So not only are you MYOPIC but you are really stupid.... You can't be a virgo??? please turn in your Virgo card please!!!!

    Bragging about your spineless act as opposed to being able to say... I approached the Venue Owners about my concerns about the Smoking Patrons.... I mean, WHO DOES THAT????

    Just dont' be surprised when someone calls the venue you named here in this thread and tells them that you "ratted to 311 on them" as opposed to being a Mature Responisible Non-hypocrital patron and speaking to them directly....

    Don't be surprised if folks return the favor and call the law on one of your events whether its justified or not....

    Don't be surprised if you can't book a venue cuz' word has traveled about your BAM'ness ! LOL

    Don't be surprised if you are at another venue and you get pulled up directly about the shyt you are bragging about...

    Hell... don't be surprised if folks don't support your events because you lack professionalism, professional courtesy, and most of all BALLS!

    I would love to know the caliber of the gun you shot your foot with....

    So the obvious remedy is to have millions of dollars to open up a bar / club. Why stop there. A Restaurant. Movie Theater. Bowling Alley. Grocery Store. Library. You get my point. It's been illegal to smoke in these places forever. By the way, where do the cigarette butts go?

    You guys come up with some funny analogies. Do firefighters bitch about smoke?

    You and everyone else have appeared to be getting a little too carried away with this, so I may not express this with alot of venom this time..

    A report filed with 311 is just a report (unfortunately). It's not calling the police. They have to figure if they'd want to act on it. I'm assuming that they have to take MANY complaints before they even decide to act on it. How you want to incoporate my former outdoor events (you supported the wrong person on that last argument before) with smoking, go figure that one.

    My buddy and I had paid the $15 cover to enjoy this place, along with the considerably high price on drinks, so I'd expect not to see people striking up all over the place. Again, I had brief discussions with the staff and it was just falling on deaf ears...

    What happens when NYCPD decides to conduct raids again sometime in the evening and discovers smokers all over the place? SHUTDOWN- and the club/promoter/dj's all lose out.

    Let me see- 'shooting myself in the foot'. I go to places where they DO NOT smoke. Imagine the refusal of entrance because of calling 311 on a club that's conducting illegal activity. Grow up already. Oh- did I mention that I have a nice regualr 9-5!?

    Where do the butts go? In a bar ore club, likely in an ashtray or the floor. Are you asking about outside? Wait a minute, you live in brooklyn and are complaining about cigarette butts on the ground? Have you looked down lately? all those rats and pigeons arent rummaging through marlboros for food. Where is your flag to shut down mcdonalds for the wrappers its customers throw on the ground?

    Yes, the obvious remedy is to spend whatever amount of money it takes to open a PRIVATE FUCKING BUSINESS. Your analogy falls very flat, because you are comparing places where kids go. Libraries are public buildings. Should smoking in parks be illegal? Should smoking in ones own private home be illegal? you already infer that private businesses should not have the option to decide.

    I hope you never ride in cars, because that would make you such the hypocrite

    No matter how you justifiy this, its still not gonna look right. If you reported the smoking to
    security, venue mgr, etc, and nothing was done about it, It would have been a simple
    enough matter to step to mgr, and say you want a refund (at least for the cover). You
    could have simply left and not returned. You could have (dare I say it) called 311 about
    the matter and kept it to yourself. Instead, you came on here and bragged about it. And
    as a result, there probably will be consequences and repercussions; as KBig hinted at.

    If you have enemies here, or folks that do not care about you too much, you just gave
    them ammunition to mess up things up for you.

    Well, lets hope and pray another club does not close down because of an ordinance violation someone reported.
