    Traktor for me...

I use Traktor scratch and I really enjoy it...So I kept it..
With Traktor you can use your Itunes library tracks....

I've tried Serato also...But returned it..

I guess it all depends on the individual...

As for the hum...Always plug your laptop directly to the electrical wall outlet...That will get rid of the hum...It use to happen to me...

That or get a power conditioner for your digital gear.

I use a Furman PL-8 and I get no "dirty power" issues with my setup.

It nice to see there's other Digital Vinyl System users out there, but how many are actually using it when playing out?

Out of necessity... I'm thinking of going the digital vinyl route. Does anyone have their rotary mixers (Urei/Bozack/etc) hooked up to Serato/Traktor/Torq? How does it sound?

I use vinyl, CDs, and Serato via digital control (though I may be trying Reflex) when I play out normally.

I use a Vestax R-1 and I use channel 1 & 2 for strictly vinyl and 3 & 4 for strictly line (so i don't have to switch back and forth). It works great this way, although my friends when they come over have to change it over because they are used to the old way.

Why do you need a good sound card for Serato or Traktor?

You don't, except in one case.

In Traktor DJ Studio/Pro, the software program uses your soundcard... in Serato 'Scratch Live' (and i'm assuming Traktor 'Scratch Pro'), the sound card comes with the setup.

Traktor comes with the Audio 8 interface.....cant use the time coded disc without it unless you have a all in one controller( that has a audio interface).....

traktor scratch comes with the sound card ...traktor does not. in other words straight laptop djing with a midi controller is for traktor...using cd decks or tables is traktor scratch

Yep, that's the point I was trying to emphasize - sorry if my language was somewhat unclear.
