Still Music celebrates Detroit tonight! With,
Rick "The Godson" Wilhite (Still Music / KDJ / 3 Chairs / NuBang - Detroit)
Detroit veteran DJ and producer, The Godson, is a legend in his own right. His (too rare) productions for KDJ, STILL MUSIC & The 3 Chairs have established him as one of the most genuine and groundbreaking producer Detroit has seen in a while.
During the early 80’s Wilhite worked for Buy Rite Music, which was one of the premiere record stores in the Midwest. Embedded with a keen ear for quality music, Rick Wilhite currently owns and operates Vibes New and Rare Music.
Throughout his music career, Wilhite has performed for numerous major international and stateside venues. He has gone by DOC, Tech-12, Working Mixx, and most recently The Godson. Interestingly enough, each alias describes his relationship to his craft. Influenced by Detroit’s legendary pool of musicians he entered production studios at the early age of eleven. He began remixing records in 1986 with the group NASA. Through the years Wilhite has established a bond with fellow musicians Marcellus Pittman, Kenny Dixon Jr and Theo Parrish…now known as Three Chairs.
Randolph (Still Music / Sonar Kollektiv / Mahogani - Detroit)
Randolph is on a roll! After his first acclaimed album for Still Music titled "Lonely Eden", Randolph is now the frontman vocalist and bassist for Jazzanova and is touring worldwide for the promotion of the Berlin based electronic jazz and soul collective.
Multi faceted songwriter, genius bassist and a stunning singer, Randolph can claim that he worked with everybody that matters in Detroit. For years, Randolph collaborated with the likes of Mike Banks, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and many more.
With a new album in the pipe for Still Music and countless collaborations with killer producers, Randolph is finally getting the fame he deserves. Tonight, he will be performing his most famous tunes along with tracks he wrote with Jazzanova and a bunch of new upcoming material.
DJ Jerome Derradji (Still Music / Past Due / Stilove4music / BBE / Musicman - Chicago)
A&R extraordinaire for Still Music, Past Due , the infamous black label "LFM aka Stilove4music "
Dj Jerome Derradji was recently signed by BBE records for the release of his first disco mix cd "The American Boogie Down" taken straight from the Past Due Records vaults. Released last March.
DJ Jerome Derradji has been touring the world since January 2007 to promote the release of its "Sound Of Still Music" compilation released in March 2007 by the legendary London based Slip N Slide electronic record label.
Jerome also successfully released his first compilation cd in Japan titled "Analog Soul" that same year.
So far both these releases took DJ Jerome Derradji to London, Manchester, Liverpool, Paris, Lyon, Hamburg, Brussels, Gent, Detroit, New York, San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Ottawa and Chicago to play at the trendiest club and parties around.
DJ Jerome Derradji played alongside established artists such as Danny Krivit, Ron Trent, Moodymann, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, The 3 Chairs (Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite, Malik Pittman), Deetron, Karizma, Marcus Worgull, Stefan Goldmann, Phil Asher, Simbad, Charles Webster, Osunlade, I:Cube, Markus Enochson, Jimpster,Trickski and many others....
His eclectic style is similar to the music released on Still Music, Past Due and LFM: from techno to disco with a strong touch of Detroit house.
Thelonious Funk (swanksociety.com - Chicago)
One of Chicago's most versatile DJ, Thelonious Funk has been dropping the jams for a weekly radio show in Chicago (Thelonious Funk Sessions) on swanksociety.com and a monthly show in Finland (Thelonious Funk's Monthly Report) on deeprhythms.com. His uncompromising taste for electronic music is rarely equalled on this side of the pond and it is a great pleasure for us to have him onboard for this 2d edition of Robotronic at Sonotheque.
