Chuck, Kevin Woodley mixed so much more differently at Gothams(Which was located on 54thst between 2nd ave and 3rd ave, During the early to mid 80's), Chuck, We both know that the crowd at Bentley's was not about Dancin, my man(Not until around 1984 or so/LOL), So, Kevin Woodley had to run alot of commercial plates to keep cats/young ladies happy throughout the night, Now, At Gothams(Which used to open at 10:00pm on

Wednesday nites during the early to mid 80's), Kevin Woodley ran whatever he wanted(Moody by ESG, Why'd you do it by Maryanne Faithful, Mesopthamia by the B-52's, etc, Ray, I used to pay15 dollars to get into the garage my man (Plus 3 dollars to cats to get me in because i did not have a membership card/LOL).

In a club once I noticed the dj was really hung on playing trance and progressive bullshit that nobody could even dance to and it was a packed weekend, so I asked another dj the deal about it and he remarked its really meant to keep the darkies out. apparently when too many dark faces start appearing certain music types makes them turn away. urban legend I suppose.

I turned down a job at a BIG Chicago club back in the day after the owner mentioned this "philosophy" to me.......JMJ
