Um what what?.....lol. I'm not doing a business transaction here - it's a message board filled with all types of helpful info, & nonsense.

Talking business like we're wall street moguls?....lol. Come on - this situation is easy to pick on. Bad business is bad business, period. Anyone can speak on it. Like Wall Street moguls have done it all correctly anyways - comments like those get under my skin.

I dunno - how much exposure is a house dj bringing to the public? 1%? Come on man - who, what, & where is the other 99%?! Should I ask how as well? This is house music we're talking about, isn't it?

The thing with edits, etc., I don't know too much about - never been directly involved, but I can see how it causes a problem with sales/distribution. Although, coming on a message board and chewing up Jaime326 publicly isn't going to generate much profit either.

    Simple.

The 1001 edits, re-edits, and remixes of "Love is The Message" certainly killed that song. As did the 103 versions of "Heartbeat"
As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid lying morality, and so I am beyond caring.

And this is the hardest part for me to understand. I love his work and even met him a about 3 years ago and he seemed like a cool person. Purchase all his music the legal way, and I enjoy it a lot.

The problem for me as the customer is that I have a feeling of being taken for granted. I try to say that that is not the case because he put out quality work that I did enjoy, but when the label comes out and just says something like that, it makes me question my next purchase of a PE project. WOW!!!!
All I want is the music and no one will get hurt.

this hatred of djs from the Peven camp will be difficult to explain away, when Peven starts to dj when he figures out he can make more money on the dj circuit than putting out albums. This will happen in less than a year.

they all look down their noses at the dj but then they are your best friend when they have to share that smelly booth with us.

Solution - demand the artists pay a fee to the DJ for playing their music to audiences. If not, they can handle their own promotions.

Crazy thread, but very entertaining........I got my money's worth. Really nice contributions from MHD, throughout.

I have some experience in copyrights, so I also have to say that PE has a legitimate point to make, but unfortunately style is focused on instead of substance. Well, typical DHP, what can you expect........

Also, this clowning/ganging up on important musicians in our genre for their communication problems.........I really don't enjoy it. It's a bit childish. I know they are making it too easy.....but it's still unpleasant to me......

You were one of the main protagonists, and I remember wondering why? She wasn't even there when it all played out? But yo, that was then....

    stepping outside of the fiasco..

it's difficult for an artist such as peven and others who compose - creating musical melodies, as well as lyrics, to be pleased with any house remix or edit of their song. especially if they are not into the genre. the truth is that it's going to take away from the song's original feel (even if it's just raising the bpm and adding some additional percussion). so it's not surprising that such an artist would want to approve this undertaking beforehand. granted, the rendition may be hotadef!-but still off base for the artist. i mean prince doesn't even allow people to COVER his songs. correct?

using the painting analogy, it would be like putting an open smile on the mona lisa and then displaying it.. not selling - just displaying. the artist could be appauled because viewers now become exposed to something that was not their intent.

i put a thread up earlier about metallica. they have another song called unforgiven. they have redone this song 3 times but have not called it unforgiven the remix/re-edit. it's just named unforgiven i, ii and iii inorder to keep the intent, meaning and feel of the original while adding a different spin each time.

it's like someone taking some piece i wrote and deciding they wanted to tweek it by adding an additional word or sentence. if i wanted it to have that word or sentence, i would've done it myself lol.

the dj's do play an outstanding role in promotion and pubilicity which cannot be denied. it would be imo illogical to do so. but we have to remember that artists think about their art first. it is an extension of themselves and sometime so much so it becomes the reason they live. at the very least they may want some advance input.

I am not the one doing the shitting...I at least am trying to book folks from said city...I even try to go against the grain by booking a talent from said city to show that the rumor is false, and had to eat public humble pie...I am just pointing out why others are not dealing with said city.

but keep targetting and blaming me while letting the rest off the hook....
