This is such a small niche genre. Anything an artist can do to get his work noticed is a plus. If this means someone doing an edit of your work...so be it. I'm honored when someone thinks enough of a record of mine to edit it. If they think they can make it better..then ..Please..by all means do it!! In these modern times your records are now seen as business cards. There is not a whole lot of revenue to be made from sales. So whatever you can have done to expand your profile whether it's in a printable or audible format is a good thing. As your other forms of earning potential revenue depend on that. Long gone are the days of worrying. You just kinda keep it moving and you don't dwell. Doesn't mean someone won't catch a beatdown for booting an original. But a bootleg rmx? Fuk it....go and make me more money son!
This has to be one of the craziest things i've read. Woulda made sense in the early nineties where a different business model was being employed. Nowadays? Kinda like cutting off your own nose to spite ya face if you ask me.

I'd say...
look...this is house music and the reason they call it house is cuz you can only afford to make that shit in your house!! Keep it in perspective. Look at generating multiple revenue streams. Do you have publishing in order AND NO THAT DOESN'T JUST MEAN ASCAP AND BMI!!! Those are just performing rights societies. Where and how are you securing these revenue streams? Get your music on whatever and wherever. Mix cds...comps...movies...malls..elevators...etc.
If peeps do rmx's see how you can benefit as you also get pub royalties on those rmx's. You also get those 8 cents per mix per side of each record on those rmx's from performance royalties if you negotiated your contract properly. So that remixer is generating income for you and you did nothing but sit on your ass and collect. You just have to take yourself out of yourself for a sec and think "how can i turn this around so that it works to my favor". In this business one hand washes the other...ya just gotta know which soap to use.

From the conversations I've had with dj's from Chi who don't like this board, its primarily because of the infighting and threads like this. But they don't see the insight that people like Martino, Dennis F, Mancuso, FK, Frankie Knuckles, and many other artists bring to the board. For all the negatives this board has, the positives still heavily outweigh them. Hell, this board is THE reason I was able to spin in places like Belgium. For that I'm forever grateful. And even though I'm in Brooklyn now, Chi is my home.

I'm not saying that, but that's the genre PE seems to perform for live. I've listened to both parts of the mix Dez Parkes did with PE's new material and the r&b, neosoul stuff is just as good. But when I've seen PE perform, it's only been the house-oriented stuff that he does. I'm not pushing him into that corner.
