    Seems like Deadmau5 doesn't like dj's either

In an October 2008 interview with the Irish Daily Star Deadmau5 was quoted as follows:
“It puts me to fucking sleep to be quite honest, I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur id like them to dis-a-fucking-pear. It's so middle man, they’re like fucking lawyers. You need them, but they’re fucking cunts. God bless them they’re my number one customer right so I’m not gonna go dis every fucking DJ. But to say you become this massive up on a podium performer by playing other peoples productions at the same speed as someone else's productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it.”

He didn't grow up in the inner cities of Chicago, New York City or Detriot within the 1970's and or 80's; it 's a matter of perspective I guess.

im nto a fan of his music and he generally comes off as a cock or just a dork in his interviews, but i do see what he might be meaning with this quote in that we should sort of get over the idea of 2 decks and a mixer. There is a world of possibilities between a full blown band onstage and mere playback of polished tunes (doesnt matter ot me whether the person pressing play produced them) that needs to be further explored.

oh come on, that is not big a skill to brag about any more. To his credit, the guy does stuff that mere record mixing djs could not fathom, it is jsut that the music is kinda syrupy.

Yeah kind of a low blow lol.
but, having said that when I saw him he didn't really utilize Ableton to any where near the degree he should of. He just did end to beginning mixes.

not having any dj background, and from what ive read a bit terrified of crowds in general (the stupid mouse head is perfect evidence of that) so as to not really understand the point of mixing 2 different songs, it would not surprise me if his transitions are weak. ive worked with many live pa artists that suffer from that. Where he is probably utilizing ableton is in the songs themselves, otherwise he is bringing out a lot of fancy tools for nothing.
