A message from Thommy Davis (President) and Oji Morris (Vice President) :
Greetings family. We are very excited to announce the new dates for Collective Minds Festival 2009.
Sunday, Sept 6th (12pm-7pm).
That's Labor Day Weekend!!!
So much has taken place since last years event and we just want to assure you that the Festival is going to happen. We have been working very hard behind the scenes to make sure that it all goes smoothly. There have been some significant changes and new requirements bestowed upon us by park officials and we want to just share a few important things with you. We have also solidified our status as a certified non-profit organization. Autism Speaks and CM hope that you will join us on both levels. We are going to party for the Love of House, but we are going to also do it for a cause.
First and foremost we want to thank Biskit for 5 years of hard work and dedication as President of this organization. None of this would20have been possible without his vision and leadership. Thank you Biskit!
Here is the info:
1. Collective Minds: Dues and donations- We realize that we are living in rough economic times. As you may know, this function is very costly to produce and it is going to take a combined financial and volunteer effort from everyone. We have the dates locked down but there is still plenty that needs to be paid for (sound equipment, security, booths etc...we will outline and itemize these things later).
That being said we have lowered the dues substantially. If you just like to contribute, any amount is appreciated.
Dues are now only $30.00 (but not limited to).
We want everyone to be a member of collective minds.
You can join on-line

2. The Parks and Recreation department has advised us that we have been in violation for years allowing folks to cookout. In fact, they threatened to discontinue this function but we were able to convince them otherwise.
They have restricted this privilege but with exception to those who comply with what is the written rules and regulations concerning these events.
****This is very important****
< b>If you intend to cookout you must obtain a permit to do so.
Permits must be obtained 30 days in advance. ($50 for grilling and $25 for picnic table)
You can obtain an application using the following link
http://www.ci.baltimore.md.us/govern...pplication.pdf
Submit completed application to the following:
Baltimore City Department of Recreation & Parks
Permits Office
Room 142
3001 East Drive
0ABaltimore, MD, 21217
Permit Application Form must be mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered.
The Permits Office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Here is the good news!!!
If you are a Collective Minds Member your permit to grill is free!
We cannot stress the importance of the need to adhere to these rules.
In fact, due to the size of our event, we are also being required to hire a security company and a few off duty police to enforce these rules. It sounds a lot worse than it is. Again, these are not new rules, they are rules that have been in place for years and not enforced. However it is written and we have to comply. Both the present and future of this event is at stake if we do not.
We are determined to have a great day of house music, food and fun for the whole family.
Nothing is going to prevent that from happening.
***There will also be food vendors at the festival as usual*****
