Attention: Listen:U.P. Family,
As most already know, LISTEN:U.P. is DJ Ron Trent’s weekly Wednesday party at The Shrine. Outside Ron Trent’s Africa Hi-Fi monthly party, he is creating a platform for art, dance, and culture that has been lost in the dance scene for years with LISTEN:U.P. Bringing life to the South Loop, The Shrine is his first weekly residency in Chicago in over 20 years. Ron Trent’s party features various special guests, great energy, and amazing talent.
We have a few changes starting in September. For a greater dance experience, LISTEN: UP will be moving to Friday nights, beginning September 4th. Memberships for LISTEN: UP will begin in September, as well.
Wednesday, September 9th is our first Membership Drive one-off event as we welcome DANNY KRIVIT (Body & Soul & 718 Sessions) featuring his Nervous Records CD release entitled 718 Sessions. Earning a status of “King Of The Re-edit” since the early 80’s, he’s been a major force in bringing attention & world acceptance to the art of editing, even spawning an onslaught of imitators. Danny Krivit is a legendary key player in the history of NY nightlife & most definitely one of the very few people who can honestly say he’s consistently DJ'ed in all the hottest clubs in NY for the past 38 years!
To date, outside of doing special Body & Soul parties with Francois K. and Joe Clausell, Danny has maintained a successful monthly event in NYC with partner Benny Soto called 718 Sessions, where he plays the best in new underground music and Disco flavored Classics.
Along with the Listen:U.P crew, DJ’s Ron Trent and Leonard Part Sixx are excited to bring you great and memorable presentations of music and dance. .
