Even though this was a big budget movie via Warner Bros... this essentially was an Asian film with big Asian Superstar in Bruce Lee... however this film was complemented with actors who were hot at the time... case in point Jim Kelly!!

When you think about it... He really did kick azz in this movie!! the alley scene (the racist cops), on the island in the arena vs. the same arrogant Aussie figher who got clowned on the boat by Lee, while heading towards the island and finally, Han's goons before he got took out. To me... he got took out like a warrior.... he went down fighting.... Think about it....

So you're saying Saxon was hot THEN? Or EVER? Maybe later he was recognizable but HOT? Keep in mind that the movie target demographic was US and Saxon hadn't really been in a whole buncha stuff that made him recognizable to most og US I think.

It was known fact Bruce frequent tournament circuit frequently to promote his art and learn of emerging martial arts talents re: Chuck Norris, Mike Stone, Dan Inosanto etc... of which some of these guys got put on in his films... Perhaps I used the term actor loosely in this instance but Jim Kelly was hot... studying Shorin-ryu karate and receiving his black belt in Okinawa-te Karate... Kelly was the 1971 International Middleweight Karate Champion... its safe to say he got noticed as Lee put him down as he had done previously in his releases... John Saxon? C'mon bro... In 72 he was down with Client Eastwood and Robert Duvall in Joe Kidd... before that other movies and tv roles... so my guess him being in Dragon was to satisfy that demographic... name was big and bold son!! lolz!! I feel you though...

Well Saxons FACE was known to me but almost everyone else in the theater was like "Why the weak white dude ain't die"They really was saying that ( his arts weren't stellar I doubt he beats Yang Tze w/o a script) Was Joe Kidd that popular? That could've just been me lol. In the bio I read Bruce liked Kelly because he was so coo and so militant. I disagree on one other point. Dan Inosanto was in a Bruce flick because he was Bruces #1 student in JKD REKANIZE!Hope we can pop shit about this in person one day fam.

J Kelly Was Too Busy Looking Good, as he replied to Khan's Question

I read somewhere (Blackbelt mag?) that Jim Kelly wasn't the original choice for the role of Williams. Rockne Tarkington (Black Samson)was the original choice.

Let me put Jim Kelly's death in "Enter The Dragon" in another, more positive light.

Jim Kelly is the only guy in the movie who got killed while laying on naked chicks.

He died while laying up on some titties.

    If you gotta go out....
