I Am Almost Keeping It Real
Never saw what people saw in her as a singer, monotone voice. Its one note for the whole song. Her videos were at least interesting she is boring as hell though as a singer.

Solid, not killing me though. I agree drums are stand out.
I heard this on the radio this morning and I love it! I'll probably will pick up the CD as opposed to purchasing it digitally though...
Her eyes sparkle in the forest, her eyes sparkle in the river. She is the wisdom of the forest, she is the wisdom of the river. -poem for Oshun
LOVE IT, because it is like nothing else on the radio at this moment! They are back - the drums are hot...and I am sure the video will be amazing. Can't wait to hear the remixes.
It ain't how much you know, it's what you do with what you do know!
I heard the song again....
I really really like it.
its gritty, and has twinges of Sade nostalgia, and I really like that its not a short song and is totally different (inna good) different than anything being played on the radio.
I hear Scott Wozniak all over this.

"What you hear you forget, what you see you remember, What you do you understand"
Anyway.
I've listened to it a couple of times now, and I'm........disturbed. Not feeling the hip hop angle at all. Song plods along like 90% commercial fare. Positively hating the "Hoooo"-chorus stuff and the vocoder arrangements.

"What you hear you forget, what you see you remember, What you do you understand"
Timmy, she would be very lucky if this song got played on many of the Urban Contemporary stations around the country. You have to understand that outside of the Tri State area, you are not going to hear this on a typical Hip Hop and RnB station, but more or less on the Black Adult Contemporary stations. Stations in New York, Philly, Bmore and D.C. have a more eclectic playlist than smaller markets. Cats like Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden would showcase this music, which will give her more exposure through syndicated radio talk shows, which will then filter down to the local daily rotation.
From a US market perspective, she has years of devoted fans to help push her product, but she's working under different practices. This is why you don't hear artists like Dwele, Goapale, and Ledisi when they have been around years before they got national exposure.
The simple fact that we are discovering this new album online goes to show how the game has changed.

I like it...and I hear a melodic line in this song that was in "Lover's Rock"... it was right after "if you were mine....if you were mine..."...and then the solo comes in. Anybody else hear it?
Dance as if nobody's watching you...and if they are...so what?
