All you gotta do is make couple of mix cd's with nice covers... do 2 gigs in 1 year with 10 people on the dance floor and you just may make the cut....

don't think so Ray. I think Robbi means Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium, producer/DJ out of Queens, on Soul People Music label. Just played Love about a week or two ago with Jus Ed, Anthony Parasole, DJ Qu. Has played at Fabric, Panorama Bar, and Tape Club, but NYC is slower to catch on than the rest of the world, it seems. Just a slightly different social circle than what most people here are in...but in terms of sound, I would bet that 99% of the peeps on here would probably be into a Fred P set...

Sometimes peeps don't look outside of their particular circle and thus don't know when something good is going on. But there are heads all over who have been working at it for a long time and are GOOD, it's just that people on here haven't heard of them (yet).

    btw, thanks Sue T

I don't understand replies like this. And your point is?

I've played to at least hundreds of people, if not a thousand before, and my reply was genuine. Any recognition is worth something in my book, and I work hard for it. I don't care if it's Robbi's list, your list, or Santa Claus's list, if someone wants to say "hey, I dig what you're doing" then I'm grateful to the fact that someone actually LISTENED.

you're getting in the way of a good self-pity filled, bitter, list busting thread
