Even though I was a Garage member, my best memory of this song is at the Clubhouse in D.C. If Larry wasn't playing, we'd form a caravan and drive down or just hop on Greyhound or Amtrak. Tito was fierce.
Used to break dance like a muther to this![]()
All I want is the music and no one will get hurt.
P-Flipp, Strafe's from Red Hook Projects in Brooklyn(If i remember Correctly, Strafe used to rest in the same building with Kenny Carpenter, During the 70's,80's), Strafe's also mad crew with Cozmo-D from Brooklyn('Who made the plate, 'Jam On It', By Nucleus, During the
Early 80's, Eddie Chebba used to run, 'Set it off', Mad hard at Broadway International(145thst and Broadway in Harlem, During the late 70's to mid 80's), The Harlequin Four's version is very nice too(Featuring, Barbara Tucker on lead vocals in 1986(Produced by Willie Daniels).
Much Respect

my best memory of this was walking across the Garage floor at the same time the bass solo kicked in and I almost throw-up because of the vibration from the bass bottoms...to this day I cannot explain it.

This song does not even get played in Chicago during a DJ's Eletric Slide set anymore.
It used to, but it fell off as of that crowd.
That makes it a worst joint than Follow Me as of Chicago clubs.
Jam On It got will not clear a floor at a company Christmas party in Chicago - where as Set It Off will get a tree thrown at the DJ.
There are songs that I had & lost, there are songs that I wish I had and then there is the worst piece of wax ever - and that is it.
I don't play Follow Me anymore BUT - I did buy it.
This song is not one that received the well known Frank Sales of Imports Etc "This Record Is Hoooooooooootttttttttt".
Pure D Ga-bage!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile out in New Jersey back in the day, I remember having to keep my mouth shut in Movin' Records when some local guys picked up a copy of the then-new "Best of Gherkin Volume 1" LP and started cracking up about how such a crappy label could possibly have a "best" compilation. I really loved and love that label and had to look away as they laughed and laughed! :-) NY and Chicago don't "mix", as all sorts of DHP music threads have shown. :-)

I still dug it, still play it, too. But then I wasn't living in Chicago when I heard it. I was in the Military, hanging out with East Coast brothers. From that exposure, it grew on me. Always considered it to be a B-Boy cut, anyway.
