If you were able to make 1500 bucks easily playing....

...Music that you consider shit for a few hours, would you do it?

    Point:

Stop limiting yourselves. You got 10,000 bucks worth of equipment and you only play one type of music?

    Where are the hustlers?

I did 1 corporate gig and and I was able to buy a new mixer and EFX box.

Just think on it and stop limiting yourselves.

    depends

    in my city or elsewhere?
what is the TOTAL expenditure of my time, including prep, travel, etc.?
how much are the total expenses i'm going to pay?
is it a style of music i even feel qualified to play?
could a below-par performance (playing a style that's not my specialty) be detrimental to my reputation?
how painful is the experience gonna be in terms of crowd, promoter, venue, equipment, etc.

$1500 is a nice chunk of change, but it ain't so much that i'm gonna jump through hoops.

My bread & butter, I am a working DJ. What's amazing is how we are loathed and it's assumed we are fluff and not respected by so called deeper/underground folks, regardless of the scene. When in reality the working DJ is gonna out play your ass on the regular.

I've been doing this shit for years! Forget the efx box, I put a down payment on an apartment!

On a side note, these types of gigs have been drying up for me the last couple of years with the economy taking such a big hit. Take em when you can get them though...

Yeah I have gotten a pretty penny for corporate gigs...Thing is I didn't have to play music that I didn't like..Just pulled from my collection, music that I thougt would be appropriate and it worked..I love Rock, Soul, Funk, Jazz, even threw in some Ska...
