Ray's Candy Shop On Avenue A Closing!

Just saw a piece on the local news about this. You know the Egg Cream spot that has been their for ever. So sad, Ray has been a fixture of Avenue A and Tompkins Square Park for as long as I have been in NYC. Landlord is set to boot him out for back rent and so forth. Pay him a visit before he is gone for ever. He is likely to wind up homeless when the store is taken away from him. Guy always gave away lots of free stuff and is a true character with what seemed like a warm heart.

That sucks! I went to a rally there a few months ago that Reverend Billy had there. His egg creams are amazing and they give you the largest order of fries I've ever seen. NYC is losing quite a few of the places that made it unique.

I didn't meet Ray until this past summer, but his place has been a staple in the community for a long time. Sad to see another local business go.

    Couple of questions
How old is the article I didn't see a date.
WTF with Muslim Fundamentalists shaking him down for coffee?
Can they just padlock the place without a court order? I don't think so even if he's month-to-month.
Did he make Lime Rickeys? Not reallyimportant but I love those like I love a real Egg cream.

Right, but what I am referring to was something that was as recent as last night. I think it was on Fox 5, but maybe it was one of the other local news stations.
