Unhappy M.Coakley and the Dems drop the ball in Massachusets!

Looks like Scott Brown took the "Lion's" senate seat thus potentially hobbling Obama's agenda.Thoroughly disappointing!

If she didn't go on vacation 3 weeks before the election, maybe she could have won.

However, shoulda, coulda and woulda don't win elections.

Hence, Coakley's defeat, the end of the Kennedy reign and another defeat for President Obama.

Is there a more disfunctional political organization than the Democratic party? If the Repubs had the Presidency, House and a super-majority in the Senate, is there any doubt that they would have rammed their agenda down our throats??

Brotha, I know You and others might get at me for this, but IMO, it was never going to happen anyway. I hoped that I was wrong and I still hope that I am, but that is what I though about it.

So can I ask, why is he in office if he can't deliver on the most important thing that his platform was on?

The Republicans remind me of the Politburo of the USSR communist party. They ALWAYS stick together and they push their agenda.

The Democratic party has been hijacked by the corporate right over the last 15 years, and it is clear that it will not deliver for the people. Therefore, people don't see much distinction between the two, and in reality, the Democrats come across even more hypocritical, deceitful, and unable to govern than the Republicans. The only constant is that people yearn for change in politics, but the cycle just continues. The only solution for this is a third party that is truly a progressive party. It would even be great if the "tea party" movement became a political party. The 2 party system has become a joke.

The problem is that in our current state of politics, Presidents are elected on platforms they have no real means of managing post-election.

Candidates talk about what they want to see happen but the reality is that it falls on Congress to do 95% of the work while the President tries to rally the troops and present Congress' follies and catowing to donors as being beneficial.

Thing is, the bills themselves are not seen as vehicles for positive progress for the nation, they are seen as a means to pad Congress' pockets, fill up the election coffers, generate some earmarks/expenditures in one's jurisdiction (usually at some benefit of your own) and most importantly, as a means of propping up or tearing down a President or the opposing party.

Everything is about winning some "game" vs directing our country in a mindful manner.

IMO, until we see a radical change in Congress (meaning removal of financial incentives driving decisions) nothing is going to change and our Presidents are going to be left unfairly holding the bag for our useless Congress when it comes to anything legislative.

That woman was embarassing...after hearing her last night, I wouldn't have voted for her either.

One year ago, it was like the 2nd coming of the Messiah in DC....what a damn shame.

It is a concern to some other than myself. Friends and family had hopes that one of the riches nation in the world that can always find money for wars, outsource jobs to other countries but can't get healthcare for the people in it. No worries though, just my 2 pennies worth.

oh? last time i looked congress was run by invertebrates and the prez became a very poor man buying dinners thinking that repubs were going to give it up.

now he is broke, with blue balls and the only thing that he has to show for it is a public believing he personally signed the bonus checks for half a dozen banks.

and you are telling me he is going to pass anything? he hasnt passed anything and now he does not even have the political capital to buy a bag of chips.

hence the lame duck. you really think he is going to pass anything of substance in the next 3 years???

i am not happy at all in saying this, but he has been out played big time.
