Stanton 680HP stylus - not the whole cartridge

Help! I just want to get two new stylii, not the whole headshell and cartridge, but Guitar Center and the other places I've checked are either out of stock or only sell the whole assembly. Any ideas (not including going digital :-) )

yup. the proper stylus is the stanton D6800HP and KAB has it for $29.95 each.. i would still contact them to make sure they really have it. i've run into problems before with other sources. this stylus is discontinued and i would stock up on them if they have them and you really like this cartridge.

Hey Chris, I was just looking for the convenience of continuing with what I had, but it turned out to be incovenient. Any suggestions for a stylus I can connect to the 680 HP headshell and cartridge, or is time for new cartridges?

unfortunately the 680HP are discontinued. and stanton really puts out crap now. if you really like that cartridge, take the plunge and buy a bunch of replacement needles for them. if not, take a look at the Audio Technica ATP-2XN. i liked them, a bit more sensitive than the stanton, but a good overall dj cartridge. elliptical. they come with one extra stylus in the price. various places online have them. there was talk of this one being discontinued also, i'm not sure, several places still carry them in stock (retailers on amazon, j&r etc). not much exciting going on in the world or dj cartridges. you might also look into the grado dj200. i've had shure whitelabels also, though i hate one piece catridges. i found them very fragile and no consistency between catridge bodies in terms of alignment.

    Hey Andrew,

Not time for new cartridges... Here's the link to the Stanton styluses... http://www.kabusa.com/stantondj.htm

Check the bottom of the page for D6800HP $29.95, and where they note "KAB bought all factory stock on this stylus." I didn't know the D6800HP was discontinued, but it appears Chris is correct, though KAB will have enough to keep you going for years.

These are the guys to keep your turntables running.

if you find some, get extras for yourself. I used them for 10 years and just gave up last year. I'm loving these now

Thanks to you all - now I have to decide between using KAB or checking out those Shures :-)

Damn, I only bought the 680s a couple of years back and thought that a big name like Stanton would keep pumping them out for years!

the m44-7 has, in my opinion, too high of an output. if you have something like a urei, forget it. its also geared more as a 'scratch' needle. the m44-g is more of the 'club' cartridge, with a more real world output rating.

It's just that I see a few links to buy the M44-7 but I can't spot the M44-G anymore other than at KAB and there's something not working with their checkout on the site. I'll keep trying.
