    It's a pretty big blowout!

Barring a major upset by Slovakia tonight, Canada will get their opportunity to exact some payback on the Americans. In that potential matchup (US vs Canada), I see the Canadians winning 6-2.

True, but Luongo is Canada's goalie and he's been very good (1.66 goals against average and 92.42 save percentage).

Winnipeg and Quebec - they both already tried to support an NHL team and lost huge sums of money. The Hammer (Hamilton) should be able to financially work with an NHL franchise. I'd like to see the Tampa Bay Lightning, Atlanta Thrashers, and the Phoenix Coyotes move to more feasible markets. I say move the Lightning to Hamilton, the Thrashers to Halifax (Nova Scotia) and the Coyotes to Seattle.

Yeah, I know Halifax is a long-shot and maybe more people would prefer to see a team in Quebec City. I just think the maritimes should get an opportunity. If I could magically wave a wand and make any city successful with an NHL team, I'd choose Winnipeg. Sadly, I don't think they can do it.

Unfortunately, moving teams to Canada doesn't help the NHL in their primary goal - securing a highly lucrative American television contract.

garry bettman is totally oblivious. he had a potential buyer for a 2nd toronto team which was sure to profit and for no particular reason he would not let it proceed.

carolina, nashville, tampa, phoenix and anaheim should be abandoned.

As a Winnipegger myself I feel sad saying that we just don't have the corporate support needed for a major league team. I guess we'll have to sit it out a bit longer and wait for some of the weakest US franchises to collapse and for the league to realize that it's time for a scaled-down business model.
