Holy shit that party was so nice.
It's been years since I've been to the Shelter but man, there is no party like it in NYC. The energy of the dancers was amazing and that sound system gives the music a lot of punch.
I arrived at around 11:30 (which is relatively late) but I got caught up in the vibe immediately. Between songs I haven't heard in awhile like How Deep is Your Love and relatively new songs that I haven't heard, Timmy was on point. To me the peak was between 12:15 and 1:00. I'm not sure what many of the songs were but they were hot. He brought things down with a few classics before closing at 2:00. I'm not convinced about the hype surrounding Black Coffee's Superman but the crowd loved and that's just one song out of many I heard during the party.
I like the space for the dance floor, it looks just right with lots of baby powder on the floor. It's a nice change from dancing on sticky floors filled with spilled alcohol.
Saw a few familiar faces. The only thing really missing was seeing Royce. I didn't know him too well but he always took the time to greet me every time I stopped by the Shelter. R.I.P. Royce.
Hopefully the time between visits to the Shelter will be as big going forward.
