unfortunately I could only go on Friday night for the preliminaries
I saw a lot of great dancers, but the best part of the night was not the competition

at one point, frustrated with the lack of energy from the crowd, Ejoe (the host) asked everybody to close their eyes
a beat came on, and he told everybody to get up and dance (to remind themselves what crowd energy can do to a room)
the response from the audience was like nothing I have ever seen

the entire place immediately leapt to its feet
it was like a bomb had gone off
    within seconds, EVERYBODY was moving
    strangers dancing together
    in the seats
    in the aisles
    on the stage
people running up and down vogueing and shit
    all the competitors
    the judges
    the promoters

it was such an immediate eruption, I could hardly believe it wasn't choreographed
it was like some shit from Fame where everybody just spontanously breaks in to a big dance number

    I was speechless

Made my whole weekend, to be honest

Great job as always, HDI peeps
Nice beats too (Pang and Sabine)

The winner in that video had humor and a fluidity that went along with the music...his incorporation of African dance style moves was lovely and didn't look pushed or forced. The other dancer looks very stiff and a bit lost, especially coming after the first dancer. Good decision from judges...
As I watch these videos, and these dancers, one thing is pretty evident to me..... there is so much emphasis by these dancers to enunciate their footwork, that they've simply forgotten how to dance the middle and upper parts of their bodies (a little hard to explain what I mean by this, but I know it when I see it - and I'm not referring to the use of arms to do flips). Also, some of it may owe to the fact that the tracks they danced to had little to no movement, but heavy emphasis on the beat - conversely, the track played in the video you are referring to had some movement, and dude knew how to feed off the movement, and he delivered dancing his whole body, not just his feet and legs.

Yeah...what u said!! I agree. It made him look far more engaged in the music and the movement...

Neguin ripped it on Friday. If I were a betting man I would have bet it all on him winning...

I was in shock when he didn't. I was talking to Gravidy on Friday, an hour plus before things started, and we both felt that he was going to win or at the very least go far in the competition.

    Neguin's preliminary round.

The judges gave him a perfect score:
