I was just so used to seeing the oil coming out, I had not idea what the rest of the
area looked like. But yeah, Im with you in hoping that this cap holds, the pressure
holds, there are no more leaks in the well or in the earth around it, and bp can finally
devote its resources to the cleanup effort.

Heres a vid for a natural absorbent that up to now, I have not seen or heard bp
trying to use as an additional solution to collect up the oil:

I just find it hard to believe that a *billion* dollar corporation needs 90 days to essentially figure out how to plug a hole.

WTF are they doing with all of that money? Seems to me like they should spend some of it on hiring some really smart people to have a solution to these types of problems waiting on standby when needed...

There is this ole' sayin' that goes: "You got a lot under the cap."

Many folks around the world are now "holding their breath" in hopes that this will soon be worked out and behind us. If we don't learn from this, Mother Nature...if she wants, can just shake us off like we were a bunch of fleas and we would become history living on this planet. Nature continues with or without us. One need only to look back at the last 4.5 billion years to see this.

We all are born from the same Mother and we must learn to love and respect her as one.

Why is this hard to believe? BP is in the oil extraction business. That's where they make their money. A lot of it. I remember someone on here posted that: "When you're in the oil drilling business, you're aslo in the oil clean-up business". I thought that statement was absurd. It's the same as saying someone in the wine business is also in the stain removal business. It's simply not true.

BP had no clue had to stop a leak of this magnitude. No one really did.

What do they do with all the money? They give it to shareholders and reinvest it to making the company more profitable. Just like any other for-profit corpoaration.

What are the profit margins on oil leaking out in one mile of water?

Nay isn't grasping how this shit works. There is so much pressure under the the crust that they tapped that I was very worried. Let's just hope they can get a relief well build fast enough.

Too soon to tell. I doubt that gas and oil consumption has decreased since the spill. We also don't know the total cost that BP will have to pay (other than the money it has already pledged) to clean up the spill, and if there will be any punitive damages.

    Stay tuned.

    Hmmmm.....

I paid $3.07 per gallon for 87 octane just today. What were gas prices in Chicago like exactly one year ago? It had to be somewhere near/over $4.00 per gallon.

And I wonder what the final tally will be for BP once all the smoke clears and all of the coming lawsuits are settled?

Couldn't be good for the balance sheet.

Didn't the shareholders dividends get put in escrow?
