If I remember correctly the stories from way back when, Mr. Clinton used to be hairdresser to Patti Labelle and the Blue Belles.

However, I don't know why he's considered UNSUNG!

Yeah. Sadly, my uncle passed away in the late 90s. I suspect Clinton of being unsung the way Lee Scratch Perry is unsung...their influence is so widespread that people have lost track of the source...

and I'm not that show's target demographic...

Maybe I missed it, but there was no mention of Bernie Worrell.

Also, why didn't George Clinton mention Sun Ra's influence on his intergalatic musical ideology?

Definitely was not impressed with the episode.

    Woo, Woo, Woo Warrior!

And Bernie was the musical director!

Heck, I remember the older cats worshipping Bernie Worrell, not George Clinton.

Maybe, just maybe, Bernie Worrel is the REAL UNSUNG member of Parliment-Funkadelic.

get outta my head...i was gonna say something like he was the backbone....but really he is the unsung hero of parliament cuz he was on them boards like a mutha and he too was not paid correctly and is still pissed from what someone told me years ago...i know i'm preaching to the choir but dude has a touch...not too heavy and not too light....i read an article(can't remember the mag) and he was spittin about what he did on 'flashlight'...i'm paraphrasing but he said the key, the kicker to his keyboard bassline on the studio version was that he never played it the same...you know what i'm trying to say? the bassline is 9 strikes and at least 1 outta 9 were different every rip to keep listeners guessing and hooked....he said he fell victim to handcramps many a time playing that bassline over and over.....

cosign, cosign and co-effin-sign...i gotta bore y'all for a minute on edde hazel...i'll keep it short...1976 and i was an eight year old who just discovered how to hit and catch a baseball...i wanted my 20 something year old uncle to make me a tape...he'd taught me so much about music already...how to play the guitar by ear, cuts, artists, what to listen for in songs, etc...so we go upstairs he turns the tv on and a basketball game is on cuz the season is just starting....i said 'u watch basketball?' he's says 'yeah i don't get into baseball too much'...that blew me...anyway he starts recording songs for me...'shake your rump to the funk(barkays)' was one of them...deep, funky, rockin cut after rockin cut...i'm like 'my tape is gonna be dope'....he's playing his guitar along with each song...some basketball game is on....then he plays the live version of 'cosmic slop'.....it stood out from the rest of the cuts...why? cuz of the scary, violent, emotional, creepy, murky sound that eddie was puttin down y'all...that song was flat out scary with the dark notes and the vocals sounding like black monks n'shit...and it was a live record so it had that, i don't know, concert hall, hollow sound to it...i can't word what i'm trying to say exactly but it was a deep, dark and eerie song with some kick ass guitar player that was NOT hendrix...i didn't find out the title or the group until years later y'all cuz all i had was the tape with no playlist... but that was my intro to eddie hazel and the f'delic...i had been up on parliament since 'get up for the downstroke' but at the time i never would have thought that that song was p-funk affiliated y'all... lastly i never really paid much attention to lyrics in songs unless it was fagen, hendrix, smokey, etc., but as a kid i just assumed this song was about death or murder('i can hear my mother call...')...it turns out the song was about a guy asking a girl to dance...hell yeah...thanx and sorry i kept y'all...

No need to apologize insofar as I'm concerned...I love the story...and that you shared it. My first intro to those crazy cats was Maggot Brain. My older (HS age) cousin was living with us and I was around 7. I nabbed his album while he was out and took a listen on my portable turntable bc the cover was soooooo weird. Ruined pop music for me, for a very long time...i wanted more of that complex, strange soundin' stuff...
