That was funny as hell. A person experiences the trauma of getting hit by a van and losing the thing that allows him to make a living at the same time. I couldn't stop laughing.

Evil in carnet... I guess, since you're nit in NYC, you won't see the joke.
Unfortunately, I once had to drop kick a messenger of his bike cause he shaved me while I was in the crosswalk. I know you're not in NYC, so the return of Karma is lost on you. Oh well....
Tac, Do you remember a cat by the name of Nelson Vails from Uptown/Harlem, My man, Neldon Vails was a bike messenger for Manufactors Hanover bank at 55 Water st, During the late 70's to early 80's, Nelson Vails was also down with the 1984 Olympics in Los
Angeles as a track cyclist, Nelson Vails was a silver medalist at the 1984 Olympic's, My man, My man used to be a messenger for Manufactors Hanover, Knew Nelson Vails very well(Money/Nelson Vails used to hang at the Paradise Garage too, During the early to mid 80's,
My man/LOL), Also, Kadeem Hardison(From a Different World TV show during the 80's), Used to be a bike messenger for his moms modeling agency, During the early 80's(Beth Ann Hardison's modeling agency was located around the 42ndt st and 5thave area, Though, I cannot remember the name of the modeling agency, Right about now, My man/LOL), Tac,
We both know being a bike messenger in New York is mad hard, In regards to survival, My man/LOL, Back in the 70's/80's, In New York, The jobs that we're the most attractive for a cat who was going to college, Was working in the mailroom of a company, Or, Being a foot

Mike... I remember that cat who was a bike messenger who went to the olympics. He was a local hero.
And, yea, I held one of this foot messenger postings when I was coming up, but it wasn't for a major company. These cats wanna talk shit about shit they don't know.
FWIW, I'm in the Times Square area 5 days a week. Being that I've got NYC survival skills, I really go through Times Square when going from East to West on my way home, choosing instead to cut across above or below Times Square.
That messenger should have known better. What's more, he was on the front right quarter of that van. so my man is an idiot for getting squashed like that.![]()
I don't see a bike lane. If that's true, then that driver and Con Ed might be off the hook!
And notice his inability to kick some ass, due to the swarming police presence in the TS!

Tac, Yes, Nelson Vails was a local hero in 1984 in New York, My man, Infact, Bentley's dedicated a night to Nelson Vails olympic performance in 1984(Which was un-heard of at the time, For a bike messenger to attain a spot in olympic competition, Along with winning a medal too, My man), Tac, We don't know what was going on inside the messenger's head(Maybe money was mad late to deliver an item, Maybe, Money was zooted, Etc, Tac, All i know is, Being a bike messenger
In New York, Is a very hard job, My man, Tac, Not to many cats walk away from getting hit by an on the move vehicle, Like the messenger experienced, My man, Tac, I once knew messengers during the 70's/80's, Who would have wetup the cat driving the van, Pulled money out of the van, Took the van and ran it into a fire hydrant(Regardless of who was at
Fault, My man/LOL), Tac, I'm glad money was able to walk away from that situation(Regardless if money was at fault or not), Because, I'm very sure they're are still those mad ferocious bike messengers who are on the streets on a regular basis, Who will not hesitate to turn a situation like this one, Into a very violent one, In regards to, 'PAP,PAP,PAP, My man.

when uget hit by car its no laughing matter earlier this year i was hit by a mid size truck w/long flatbed down sunset blvd in echo park & he cut me off on the downhill & i bounced right off his left rear light/bumper & smashed it -i don't remember falling but i had an adrenaline rush i was in a cycling high state & i just took off after the guy pulled over i didn't want to deal with it & i was bruised from my hip & leg -my bike was fine just some marks on the aero bar
Of course he's weeping...was that $800 he named as the price of his rims? In this economy? That cyclist was alongside that van for some time...I wonder if the driver had seen him...but we can't know what the result of losing days of work (who/what does he support with his money?) and the cost of new rims will be for him (does he have insurance to cover this - does anyone sell that kind of insurance?)...while I have certainly had my share of run-ins with dumba## messenger cyclists in NYC, this is more painful than anything else.
I think there might well be a bike lane through that area, but it should be over closer to the curb, not out on the right like that...if there's a lane, he most certainly ain't in it. Wow.

I didn't find the accident funny...but what I found was the delay in his dramatics...but I don't blame him for being upset. Who knows that might have been his 3rd strike & when he gets back to the office only to hear..."hit the bricks (yo)".
Unfortunate situation for both parties.
