Is it really necessary to analyze all your songs or do you just wing it? I read somewhere it's good to analyze your songs but this is going to take forever with a huge library. Thanks in advance.

Yes if you have not analyze your libray it is going to take a while. when I frist got serato I started it before I went to bed and ran my whole libray overnight !

I now analyze right after every music Purchase !

Yes you should def analyze as you wont have any waiting time for the loading process of each track saves you like 20-30 secs. If you are going thru tracks listening that can be a big pain.

It's not necessary but if u don't you won't be able to have tags on your files (ie) bpm's and stuff like that.

Also auto gains won't be set, and you will have files with volumes allover the place.

You are just giving yourself more work by not doing it.

I was being sarcastic. However, CDJs are essentially the same thing: pushing buttons. Also, there are faders on my controller that I use!

I still get a chuckle out of cats who use serato with the auto gain, but rag on dudes who use sync in Traktor, but there are always going to be people who use lopsided, subjective and often hypocritical methods of making themselves feel superior and I'm ok with that.

I think thats an apples to oranges comparison. Both help the DJ, but in different manners. Getting a equal sound from your files is a far gap between having the software sync beats for you.

Damn I need to wake TFU? You telling me part of this "analyzing" he asked about means I wont have to constantly adjust the volume ? What else does analyzing do? I do not have Serato btw.

Both are tools that make it easier for DJs to work, not really that apples and oranges in the most basic of terms, more like different types of apples.

People who hang on the whole manual vs. automated beatmatching thing also tend to be interesting mixers who play uninteresting music and are threatened by people who don't have to do it manually to get gigs and be effective DJs.

actually you better use Traktor Kontrol X1 with serato . It allows you to control the fx as well ...
