List of Reads from 2010 - those that came out this year and those we read this year

My girls from book club + our associated friends put together a list of our favorite books from 2010 - some were published from before this year but these are the ones we read (I only have read 1/3 - which means many recommendations ahead, yay!)....here they are:

Traveling with Pomegranates by Susan Monk Kidd and her daughter Ann: an excellent book about mothers and daughters

Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris: Made me roar out loud laughing only in the way that David Sedaris has

Baltimore Blues by Laura Lippman: It's relatively intelligent, literate, engaging and fun to follow the main character, Tess Monaghan, through circuitous adventures en route to solving at least one crime a book. (Just her name oughtta get ya.)

The Late Bloomer’s Revolution by Amy Cohen: hilarious memoir with David Sedaris-eque sarcasm about family relationships, dating, etc.

Mirror, Mirror by Gregory Maguire: new take on Snow White & the seven dwarves

Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett: great historical fiction murder mystery about a WW2 German spy

The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery:. French novel with quite a good plot, an interesting look at differences of the social classes

Fool by Christopher Moore: It's a wickedly entertaining take on King Lear

The Dance of the Dissident Daughter: about religion/spirituality and women

A Piece of Cake: A Memoir by Cupcake Brown: Though one of the most disturbing books I've ever read, it's a story I think about ALL the time. You'll love it if you loved James Frey's "A Million Pieces"
