I have the MPK25 and I've used it with Reason as well as Live. I love this thing.

I'm using Ableton Live 8 and Reason 4 (I need to get that latest Reason upgrade). I'm not a production pro yet, but I'll help as much as I can.

    ...

check out the M-Audio ones. Decent bang for your buck, meaning, you won't go broke.

A lot of people make the mistake of spending too much money because they've been "told" what brands to buy. The best way to go about it is to buy what you can afford and learn the inexpensive way. Also, you learn your limitations and you can THEN buy something better based on what you need.

A lot of folks buy those controllers with the MPC style pads on them. Personally, I don't use those, so why buy that kind of controller?

Ask yourself what kind of music you'll be making, and then do some comparison shopping based on those needs.

( and i'm learning more that weighted keys are WAAAAAAY better than non-weighted ones. I didn't think it made a difference, but it does. )
